There’s a new hint as to Ricky Starks‘ status with AEW.
Ricky Starks hasn’t been seen on All Elite Wrestling television since the March 30th episode of Collision, when he and Big Bill lost to Top Flight in the first round of the AEW World Tag Title Tournament. While there were concerns about an injury in the match, Starks later took to social media to indicate that he was fine and that stopping the match had simply been a precaution. In May, he spoke about wanting to return to action soon as he was “ready to go.”
In January, reports emerged that Ricky Starks’ request to be released from AEW had been denied by Tony Khan despite the company having no long-term plans for the star. However, according to a new report from PWInsider, the former tag team champion is no longer All Elite.
PWInsider first reported that Starks’ profile had been removed from AEW’s roster page, indicating that he was likely gone from the company. In an update, PWInsider confirmed that Starks was now “free and clear” to go anywhere he wants to work. Dave Meltzer also confirmed this news on social media.
“It Sucks” – Ricky Starks On Not Being Used In AEW
Back in November, Ricky Starks spoke with Chris Van Vliet about his absence from AEW. Here’s what the star had to say:
“March was my last match. I’ve been home, I’ve been healthy. Never was injured. I did have a stinger. I got a stinger in that match against Top Flight in March. I got immediately checked out and everything was fine, but I was just concerned at the time. So that happened and then I was just home. That’s kind of where it’s been at. I’ve just been home.
It’s kind of a mindf*ck because I’m in my prime and it sucks when you’re on such a momentum, riding the wave, doing work and doing stuff, and then to just be at home for so long, you’re kind of like, whoa. It kind of throws it off.
I am not meant to be at home. I’m not meant to be a homebody in this current phase in my life. I’m not meant to be just chilling at home and doing not the thing that I’ve been busting my ass to do for the past 13 years.”
Ricky Starks has been making appearances at independent shows in recent months.
In recent news, Ricky Starks has made his WWE NXT debut.
