A new report has provided a huge update on Cody Rhodes’ contract status with WWE.
Ever since Cody Rhodes announced that he had left AEW on February 15th, he has been linked with a stunning return to WWE. Rhodes had started his career with the company back in 2006, before leaving a decade later amid frustration over his place on the card, and creative plans for his character.
While it was initially believed that a deal between WWE and Rhodes was a formality, it was reported earlier this month that talks between the two sides had broken down. This was followed by another report which stated that WWE “didn’t know” what was going on with Rhodes.
Now, a new report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider claims that multiple sources in WWE have confirmed to him that ‘The American Nightmare’ has not only signed with the company but did so 10-14 days ago.
The report also says that the plan is for Cody to debut on WrestleMania weekend and the “early word” is that he will be part of the Raw roster.
This backs up a report by Dave Meltzer on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio who said – in the wake of Cody Rhodes not appearing at the Jacksonville Raw as many expected – that the plan was still for Rhodes to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. It also fits in with the various hints WWE have been dropping during recent episodes of Raw.
