Major Storyline Featuring JD McDonagh “Halted”

JD McDonagh

Fans shouldn’t expect to see JD McDonagh sharing the screen with Finn Balor any time soon.

During the WWE Draft back in late April/early May, JD McDonagh was drafted to Monday Night Raw. The Irish star made his main roster in-ring debut in an Intercontinental Title number one contender’s Battle Royal before having a short match with Dolph Ziggler two weeks later.

During this period it was reported that McDonagh was being lined up as a potential new member of the Judgment Day. The star has a lengthy history with Finn Balor and was seen interacting with the former Universal Champion on Raw. However, in recent weeks McDonagh has disappeared, wrestling only on main event.

Meanwhile, a new report from WRKD Wrestling has stated that plans for McDonagh to join Judgment Day have been “halted” for the time being.

“JD McDonagh’s Judgement Day plans have been halted for the time being. He lost to Apollo Crews during last night’s Main Event taping.”

JD McDonagh Has Wrestled Finn Balor In WWE Before

After being trained by Finn Balor and becoming a regular presence on the British independent scene, JD McDonagh — known by his real name Jordan Devlin — joined WWE in 2016. The star took part in the tournament to crown the first-ever NXT United Kingdom Champion and appeared in NXT UK before moving to WWE’s third brand in the United States.

During his time in NXT UK, McDonagh took on Finn Balor at NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool, after the former World Champion was revealed as a surprise opponent.

While with NXT, McDonagh won the Cruiserweight Title and feuded with the likes of Ilja Dragunov, Cameron Grimes, and Santos Escobar.
