WWE Raw’s 30th anniversary saw a number of legends return to television but as fans found out on February 6th the surprises didn’t stop there.
With Becky Lynch battling with Bayley inside a steel cage, Damage CTRL made their presence felt denying Lynch what seemed a certain victory. After IYO SKY scaled the cage to knock The Man back into the ring, Dakota Kai threw one of her crutches to Bayley. However, just as the star was about to lay waste to Lynch, Lita’s music hit to a huge ovation from the crowd in Orlando.
The Hall of Famer quickly attacked SKY and left her laying with a Twist of Fate. The distraction allowed Lynch to get the upper hand in the ring and deliver a Man-Handle Slam for the win. After the match, Lita celebrated with Lynch in the ring, a year after the pair wrestled at Elimination Chamber. The moment was especially poignant for Lita as she wrestled in the first women’s Cage Match in WWE history back in 2003.
Is Trish Stratus Returning To WWE?
Interestingly it seems that another return is coming on the February 13th edition of the show. It has been reported by WRKD Wrestling that Trish Stratus will be appearing on the show to set up a tag team match at Elimination Chamber. The report was also endorsed by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp.
Trish Stratus last appeared on Raw back in August in her hometown of Toronto, Canada. On that occasion, her promo was interrupted by Bayley and Damage CTRL. In a back-and-forth segment that also featured Bianca Belair, Stratus threatened to come out of retirement to face Bayley.
Real-life friends Trish Stratus and Lita are often cited as an inspiration for a number of female stars after they pushed women’s wrestling in WWE to new heights during their careers. Their rivalry spanned a number of years and drew a number of new fans, women in particular, to professional wrestling.
Trish Stratus hasn’t wrestled since losing out to Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam in 2019. The star ended her full-time career in 2006 but has still wrestled on occasion, including teaming with Lita at Evolution in 2018.
