Major Promoter Has Spoken To William Regal About Potential Return Match

A major promoter in the pro wrestling world has recently revealed that they have had conversations with William Regal about a possible return to wrestling.

Although Regal has not competed in a wrestling ring since his match against Cesaro on NXT back in 2013, the British wrestler has remained a regular part of programming in both WWE and AEW over the past decade. While it is unlikely that the 56-year-old would step back in the ring, an offer has been made for a unique match.

Josh Barnett is the promoter of the Bloodsport event, which sees competitors compete in rings with no ropes and no turnbuckles and victories are obtained via knockout or submission. Over the past couple of years, Barnett has booked WWE stars on Bloodsport shows and has even made a pitch to the former NXT General Manager.

Speaking with Ringsiders Wrestling, Barnett stated that if Regal is interested in attending or competing at the show, he would be happy to grant the request:

“You think I haven’t had some conversations with William Regal about, ‘If you should feel spry. You know…’

“I say the ball is in his court, not as like a challenge or anything like that. It’s just, he’s the boss here. If he tells me it’s time, done. If he says, ‘Eh, I’m better off spectating.’ Done. Whatever he wants, he’s correct. That’s the way I see it,”

William Regal’s Son Charlie Dempsey Returning To Bloodsport

Although Regal has been out of the ring in over a decade, his son Charlie Dempsey is currently signed to WWE and competes on NXT. After 3 previous fights at Bloodsport, Dempsey will make his return to the event over WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas. Dempsey currently has a 2-1 win/loss record at the event.

In other WWE news, Rey Mysterio’s WrestleMania match has been confirmed.
