On the June 15th edition of AEW Dynamite it was revealed that a huge New Japan Pro Wrestling star will miss AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

With Forbidden Door just days away, the card is slowly beginning to take shape. However, one man who doesn’t have a match as yet is Hangman Adam Page.

Although it’s not through lack of effort.

Speaking a week ago, Page called out Kazuchika Okada, explaining that he wanted a shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, after he lost his AEW World Title at Double or Nothing. However, Page was interrupted by Adam Cole, who made his own case to appear in a match.

On the June 15th edition of the show, Page reiterated his challenge to Okada, even though the Japanese star recently lost his World Championship at NJPW Dominion to Jay White.

This brought out Cole again who said that he should be involved in the match, before introducing White. However, White jumped Page from behind to leave him laying. White then revealed that Page can call out Okada all he wants, but the former World Champion won’t be at Forbidden Door.

At this, Cole could barely hide his excitement on the ramp as White announced that his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship would be on the line at the show. But that excitement was quickly damped by the Switchblade, who said that Cole wouldn’t be wrestling for the title either.

Despite the tease, there was no opponent revealed on the show.

Earlier in the night, a huge trios match was confirmed for Forbidden Door. Chris Jericho, flanked by new Jericho Appreciation Society members Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti, announced that he will be teaming with the Spanish God and Minoru Suzuki to take on Wheeler Yuta, Shota Umino, and Eddie Kingston.
