Major Match “Very Much On The Table” For John Cena At SummerSlam

John Cena Roman Reigns

John Cena will be in action for the first time in 2023 when he faces Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39.

The 16-time World Champion recently returned to Monday Night Raw where he was challenged by the United States Champion. Although he initially turned the match down, Cena broke Theory down with a number of insults before agreeing to the clash at the urging of the crowd.

While the plan for Cena to face Theory has been in place for a few months, there had been talks about a different match altogether.

In late 2022 as he recovered from a knee injury, Logan Paul took to social media to call on Triple H to give him a WrestleMania match with Cena. It has since been reported that the match was actually “penciled in” for the spectacular at one point, but plans were changed to what fans see now. Cena is wrestling Theory and Logan Paul will be wrestling Seth Rollins.

However, the idea of a match between Cena and Paul is seemingly not dead. In a new report via GiveMeSport, the popular Twitter account Wrestle Votes has suggested that the match could now take place at SummerSlam.

“Logan loved the idea and Cena was totally down it. They’d have made mega money and it’s just a matter of when. They want to tell a good story because they’re megastars, so there’s got to be a reason. The matches is very much on the table, even at a SummerSlam. All parties involved want to do it.”

John Cena Controversially Defends Vince McMahon

In a recent interview about his upcoming match with Austin Theory, John Cena came to the defence of WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon. Cena said that despite the accusations of sexual misconduct leveled against McMahon he still loves him. Cena reasoned, “we all make mistakes.”
