One of AEW’s top stars revealed they are taking some time away from the ring to undergo surgery.
On May 6th and 7th Ring of Honor conducted its latest round of TV tapings at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The tapings saw World Champion Claudio Castagnoli, Women’s Champion Athena and TV Champion Samoa Joe among those in action.
At the end of the taping, Eddie Kingston came out to address the crowd. During his mic time, he confirmed that he will be going under the knife for hernia surgery to fix the issue he has been dealing with since September. Kingston would go on to disclose that he expects to be out of action for six-weeks while he recovers.
Kingston was last in action at the promotion’s Supercard of Honor pay-per-view on March 31st where he unsuccessfully challenged Castagnoli for the ROH World title in the main event.
Since then he was pulled from NJPW’s Collision in Philadelphia on April 16th. He was set to take on Clarke Conners but due to the injury was replaced by International Champion Orange Cassidy.
Eddie Kingston Sensationally “Quit” AEW
Ever since joining All Elite Wrestling, Kingston has been a controversial figure. His promos often highlight legitimate animosity with his colleagues and is not afraid to hold back on social media.
Kingston cut a frustrated and unhappy character in AEW a few months ago. There were frequent anti-AEW messages on his social media feed, as well as tirades against management, booking, and fellow wrestlers.
Kingston’s assault took aim at World Champion MJF calling him a “piece of sh*t” and questioning why he was champion. Once on a role, the Mad King kept the barrage of insults kept flying and opened fire on the entire roster including friends such as Jon Moxley and Penta.
