At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 25th, Bryan Danielson will step into the ring for one of the biggest matches of his long and illustrious career.
The American Dragon will square off against The Rainmaker, Kazuchika Okada in what many consider to be a huge dream match. However, it seems that Danielson will be well below 100% when he steps into the ring against a man widely regarded as the best wrestler on the planet.
Danielson has only wrestled once since his 60-minute Iron Man Match with MJF at Revolution on March 5th — a match he later revealed left him in a “ton of pain” — seemingly for good reason.
It has now been reported by Fightful Select that the star is still “banged up, ” which has led to his limited schedule. The report notes that this is why his spots in the Anarchy In The Arena Match at Double or Nothing were very limited.
In recent weeks, Danielson has rarely done anything physical on AEW television and has largely appeared on commentary for matches involving the Blackpool Combat Club.
Bryan Danielson Involved In AEW Creative
Although he has rarely been involved in the ring, it has come to light that Bryan Danielson’s influence backstage is growing. It has been reported that not only is Danielson involved in the creative team for Collision, but he has been working closely with Tony Khan for a number of months.
Danielson reportedly has more influence than many think, and has been described as a “key part of creative.”
