WWE Main Roster Stars Moved To NXT

WWE NXT 2.0

As Superstars from WWE’s main roster continue to pop up in NXT 2.0, multiple stars have now been switched between brands internally.

On the June 7th edition of NXT 2.0, Apollo Crews made a shock return to WWE’s third brand. The star hadn’t been seen on the show since early 2016, after which he was moved to the main roster.

Back in NXT, Crews confronted Bron Breakker after he laid down a challenge to anyone to come out and face him. Breakker was in buoyant mood after retaining his NXT Championship against Joe Gacy at In Your House.

During the segment, Crews was greeted like a returning hero and heaped praise on the second generation star, before promising to meet him in the ring down the road.

The promo marked a complete shift in character for the former Intercontinental Champion, who dropped the Nigerian accent he had been using on the main roster, and was presented as a babyface for the first time in a number of months.

It has been reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that Apollo Crews has internally been moved to the NXT 2.0 roster. Babatunde Aiyegbusi who had been appearing as Commander Azeez, alongside Crews, has also been moved. Although Azeez was absent during Crews’ recent return.

In recent months a number of main roster stars have made occasion appearances back with the developmental brand, with Dolph Ziggler even holding the NXT Title. Natalya also returned to the former black and gold brand in May for a short feud with Cora Jade.
