On the May 30th episode of NXT, free agent Baron Corbin returned to the brand and immediately set his sights on Carmelo Hayes.
After dispatching Bron Breakker to keep hold of the NXT Title at Battleground, the star didn’t have to wait long to get a new challenger. The feud between Hayes and Corbin has been escalating in recent weeks with Hayes and Trick Williams confronting the star on the June 9th episode of SmackDown.
On the following edition of NXT, Corbin defeated Ilja Dragunov to become the number one contender for Hayes’ Title. With the former King of the Ring celebrating, Hayes attacked his new challenger and ended the show standing tall.
The match will take place on night two of Gold Rush on June 27th.
Seth Rollins To Make In-Ring NXT Return
Back in July 2012, Seth Rollins competed in the original Gold Rush tournament and emerged as the first-ever NXT Champion defeating Jinder Mahal in the final. In the 11 years since that victory Rollins has established himself as one of the biggest stars in the company, but on June 20th he will head back to where his WWE journey began.
After being challenged by Bron Breakker it has been confirmed that Rollins will defend his World Heavyweight Title against the second-generation star on night one of NXT Gold Rush. Just 24 hours earlier the star will also put his newly won World Title on the line in an open challenge before moving on to face Finn Balor at Money In The Bank.
