After missing out on the NXT Championship in the main event of Vengeance Day, Grayson Waller decided he’d had enough.
The Australian star later interrupted Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels while he was addressing the media. Waller accused Michaels of playing favourites and demanding to know why he wasn’t ‘the guy’ before being dragged away. As a result of his outburst, he was suspended.
With his suspension over, Waller returned to NXT and was defeated by Tyler Bate. The following week the star hijacked the production truck, claiming that he was taking over, dubbing himself the new Showstopper.
Waller later invited Michaels to join him on a special edition of the Grayson Waller Effect at Roadblock.
As predicted the segment quickly descended into an argument with HBK becoming increasingly annoyed at Waller seemingly thinking he’s bigger than the brand. The WWE Hall of Famer said that as much as he would like to fight the young star, he knew someone who wanted to do it more.
Johnny Gargano Returns To NXT
That person was quickly revealed to be none other than former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano. The Monday Night Raw star attacked Waller and sent him out of the ring.
The former champion has a great deal of unfinished business with Waller who left him laying during his last night with NXT back in December 2021.
It was confirmed that the two will meet in the ring at Stand & Deliver on April 1st.
