According to WrestleZone, AEW Superstars The Lucha Brothers have signed new contracts with All Elite Wrestling which will keep them with the company until December 2021.
The new deals were penned after their original contracts expired on August 31, with the note that the pair were never not under contract to the Jacksonville empire and there was never a danger of The Lucha Brothers leaving to seek employment elsewhere.
The news comes after it was announced by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Penta is currently dealing with a calf injury he picked up during training, explaining why he was only a minor part of the run-in by The Death Triangle on the December 16 AEW Dynamite.
Currently, there is no word on when the masked marvel will return to the ring in a full time capacity or when he’ll be one hundred percent. However, it is believed that he will continue to appear on Wednesday nights in some fashion as well as a regular for AAA.
Sans partner, Rey Fenix will step up to the challenge of AEW World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega at AEW New Year’s Smash Night One on December 30.
Recently, Penta changed his designation from Pentagon Jr. thanks to the name being owned by AAA. The swap was said to have allowed him to sign a new deal with AEW without the Mexican promotion being involved in negotiations.
