AJ Styles has had historic runs for numerous promotions, including ROH, TNA, WWE, and NJPW. The veteran WWE Superstar is currently fighting back to the top of the RAW brand, but it looks like his return to TNA may finally happen.
The Phenomenal One and TNA will be forever synonymous. The current RAW Superstar debuted for NWA: Total Nonstop Action in May 2002 and was the face of the company until leaving in December 2013. Styles worked with various international promotions while with the promotion, but his departure opened doors for a return to ROH, and his notable run in NJPW, which took him to WWE.
The inaugural and six-time TNA X-Division Champion held the Nashville-based promotion’s World Heavyweight Championship five times, and the World Tag Team Championship on six occasions. Styles became TNA’s first Triple Crown Champion, which he achieved a total of five times, and his first of two reigns with the Legends/Global/Television Championship made him the promotion’s first Grand Slam Champion, which he achieved once more. The 10-time TNA Year End Award winner was named Mr. TNA from 2003-2005, X-Division Star of the Year in 2004 and 2005, among others.
The TNA Hall of Fame features names close to AJ Styles, such as Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, and Abyss, among others. Fans have called on the promotion to induct Styles for years, and it’s been rumored to happen once or twice, but now it appears there is a good chance of AJ Styles being inducted soon with WWE and TNA having a working relationship, despite his recent comments indicating otherwise.
TNA President Carlos Silva Teases AJ Styles For Slammiversary
TNA will present its 21st Slammiversary PPV on Sunday, July 20, from UBS Arena in Elmont, NY. The event will celebrate the company’s 23rd anniversary.
TNA President Carlos Silva took to X/Twitter today to announce that new Slammiversary tickets were released after production changes were made. The longtime sports executive touted Slammiversary XXI as TNA’s greatest achievement, and then promised it would be “PHENOMENAL,” which many see as a spoiler for The Phenomenal One’s potential appearance.
We’re moving the stage back to accommodate more fans. This event will be TNA’s greatest achievement and trust me it’s going to be PHENOMENAL. #Slammiversary #TNA @ThisIsTNA,” Carlos Silva wrote.

It remains to be seen if AJ Styles will attend Slammiversary as a special guest or if he will be there for a Hall of Fame induction announcement, perhaps at Bound For Glory weekend later this year. The working relationship with WWE could allow this, and other NXT Superstars will also be at Slammiversary.
AJ Styles last wrestled for TNA at the Impact tapings on December 5, 2013, where he lost a No DQ Match to Magnus (aka Nick Aldis) for the World Heavyweight Championship. His last WWE match was the RAW win over JD McDonagh on June 16.
