In a move that surprised many, on September 17th, WWE announced that Logan Paul would challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Crown Jewel in what was to be the YouTube star’s third wrestling match.
Although Paul had been praised for his performances at WrestleMania 38 and SummerSlam, there was still plenty of skepticism from many about how Paul would fare in his first main event match.
However, Logan Paul once again showed himself to be a natural in the ring, delivering moves such as an impressive Buckshot Lariat and a huge Frogsplash to Reigns through an announce table. Despite his best efforts and help from his brother Jake, Paul couldn’t overcome The Tribal Chief and took the first loss of his career.
Paul is still positive about the experience even though he came out on the losing end, having previously said it was a “hell of a match”.
“Wrestling the face of WWE in my third match was pretty awesome.”
Logan Paul reveals the moment he found out he would face Roman Reigns
Now Logan Paul has released footage of the exact moment Triple H informed him of the blockbuster bout. In video recorded three months before the match took place, Triple H contacted Logan Paul to let him know it was going to happen.
“I had an idea, I didn’t want to throw it at you ’til now because I wanted to get full sign off on it. You versus Roman Reigns.”
Paul was dumbfounded and joked that Roman Reigns was “gonna kill” him.
“Woah, they’re gonna put me against Roman Reigns, the reigning WWE Champ? He’s gonna kill me [laughs].”
Following the bout, Paul took to social media to reveal that he’d suffered a knee injury in the match. He has since revealed the injury is a torn MCL which will take a minimum of six weeks to fully heal. The star is currently undergoing physical therapy and rehab for the tear.
