Jey Uso

Jey Uso makes a decision tonight...or does he?

We come back to Jey and Jimmy in the ring together. Heyman and Solo stand on the ramp, looking on. What will Jey do now?? Jimmy pats him on the shoulder and seems to be apologizing as he lifts Jey to his feet. Jey pushes Jimmy off in frustration. Jimmy promises him he wasn’t trying to kick him in the face, but Jey leaves the ring and walks over to Paul and Solo.

Jey acts like he chooses…nobody? He walks up the ring without making a definitive decision.

Austin Theory

Theory steals the win this time

We come back to Theory clutching Jey in a headlock. He’s punched away, and the two men start trading shots. Jey with a neckbreaker for a close two count! Jey hypes up the crowd, but he misses in the corner and eats the second turnbuckle. Theory with a rolling dropkick that nails his opponent. He hits a spin-out powerbomb for yet another two-count, which frustrates the U.S. Champion.

Theory calls for the finish, but Jey reverses with a superkick to the mid-section and an upperct. Step-up enziguri and a superkick end up sending Theory into the referee. Jey uses his finishing splash and should have the three count but there’s no referee available. Pretty Deadly show up and give a cheap shot to Jey. Jimmy Uso is here! Jimmy superkicks PD out of the ring, but suddenly, Solo Sioka rushes the ring and batters Jimmy. Sikoa wants to spike Jimmy, but Jey stops him.

Solo moves out of the way as Jimmy tries for a superkick, which nails Jey. Solo and Jimmy wrestle out of the ring as Theory sneaks the pin and retains his belt. Theory wins!

Austin Theory

Jey Uso vs. Austin Theory

Several matches for the next few weeks of SmackDown are highlighted, which we will reveal shortly. Jey Uso makes his entrance, followed by the United States Champion. We get the proper introductions, and then the bell sounds! They lock up, with Theory pulling Jey into a headlock. Off the ropes, Theory with a shoulder tackle. Uso jumps up with a flying elbow and a clothesline to send Theory outside the ring.

He tosses Theory over the announcer’s table as we go to another break!

Kevin OWens

We will soon find out the next #1 contenders for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles

Kevin Owens meets Zayn backstage and they start talking about what’s going down with The Bloodline, but that’s when Pretty Deadly, LWO, Street Profits, The OC, and The Brawling Brutes all show up and demand title shots for the Undisputed Tag Team Title matches. Pearce says they can all enter a gauntlet match, and the winner gets the Tag Title match.

A video hyping up Grayson Waller is shown next. Charlotte Flair will be the guest on The Grayson Waller Effect next week.

Our main event match between Jey Uso and Austin Theory is next!

Austin Theory

Austin Theory is interviewed

Kayla Braxton interviews Austin Theory, who says it’s disrespectful that he’s the last guy to know about his U.S. Title match tonight. He might not get to control everything like Roman does, but he’ll still win this match tonight.

Jey vs. Theory is still to come!

Iyo Sky

Shotzi vs. Iyo Sky in a MITB qualifying match

Backstage, Butch is hyped and says that he’s going to the UK to bring that briefcase home to the Brawling Brutes. Corbin confronts them and says it’s not fair, but that’s when Cameron Grimes shows up and clonks him in the head.

Shotzi enters first, followed by Iyo Sky with Bayley. The bell rings! Bayley immediately gives a distraction, giving Iyo the advantage. Shotzi comes back with a running knee and a snap suplex into the turnbuckles. Iyo then retailiates by focusing on Shotzi’s right arm. She stomps on it and hangs it up on the top rope. Iyo wants a dropkick, but she misses and eats a facebuster. Shotzi with a forearm, a kick, and a butterfly suplex. Iyo rolls to the outside where Shotzi delivers a suicide dive!

Shotzi climbs to the second rope but Bayley distracts her, giving Iyo a chance to hit an uppercut. Bayley interferes once more as the referee is looking away, setting her up for the finishing moonsault. Iyo Sky is the winner! Damage CTRL both advance!

Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley is highlighted

Corbin gets in a scuffle with Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes at ringside as we transition to a video hyping up Bobby Lashley.

Shotzi vs. Iyo Sky in a MITB qualifying match is next!

Butch

Butch vs. Baron Corbin in a MITB qualifying match

Adam Pearce is backstage on the phone and has to address an irritated Belair. She says he better figure out how to solve this Charlotte/Asuka/Belair problem.

Butch enters the arena first, followed by Baron Corbin. Corbin grabs a mic and tells Trick Williams and Carmello Hayes, who are at ringside, that he’s going to give them a show when he qualifies for the MITB ladder match. He throws shade at Trick and says he and Carmello should stay on the outside and watch him punch his ticket to MITB.

Butch with a dropkick, an enziguri, and a running kick in the corner. He follows up with a tornado DDT off the turnbuckles. Butch misses a moonsault and is hit with a backbreaker, followed by some clubby blows. Butch gives another enziguri and then grabs Corbin’s fingers and does his joint manipulation thing. Corbin claps back with a hard left to Butch. His attempt at a chokeslam is reversed with ease and Butch gets a pinfall for the win! Wow! Butch advances!

Jey Uso

Jey Uso tells Paul Heyman he shouldn't be so excited tonight

We see a replay of what happened at the top of the show between Jey Uso and Paul Heyman with Solo Sikoa. Backstage, Jey is taping up for his U.S. Title match. Heyman thinks what he did was slick; leaving a cliffhanger like that is great for TV. Paul requests his passport and his measurements so that he can fly privately with The Bloodline, and then, next week, they will have a huge celebration for multiple things: Roman returning to SmackDown, Jey winning the U.S. Title, and Jey being acknowledged as the next Tribal Chief.

Jey says he loves that idea, and yeah, he can be counted in. Jey still doesn’t shake Paul’s hand and says that he doesn’t understand why Paul is so happy because if he is in the Bloodline, Paul is “out” of The Bloodline.

Up next is Butch vs. Baron Corbin is next!

Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair makes her intentions known to Asuka

Flair makes her slow entrance down to the ring as Asuka looks on in shock and acts unimpressed. Pearce asks Flair what is going on, and says she needs to get in line for the Title. Flair says she doesn’t need to wait in line because she made the line. Charlotte says that no one respects her more than her, but she wants that Title. So, she’s challenging her for the belt!

Asuka grabs the mic and responds in Japanese before saying, “I accept!” Flair tells Pearce that when she makes the match official, he can put the Raw Women’s Title around her waist, too. Asuka misses the blue mist as Flair kicks her out of the ring. How will Belair react to Flair trying to jump the line??

Charlotte Flair

Asuka's title celebration is interrupted by The Queen

We come back with AJ Styles is trying to cope with what happened to his eyes. He says he wants Kross, which Michin agrees and says they will go after Scarlett, too.

Adam Pearce is in the ring with a covered Women’s Championship. He introduces Asuka! She comes down to the ring dressed in her casual wear. Pearce tells her that on behalf of WWE, Asuka is rewarded with the Women’s WWE Championship! CHARLOTTE FLAIR IS BACK!

Asuka

Asuka will receive her new Women's Title next!

We see a replay of Asuka and Bianca Belair tussling last week, and then see Belair backstage. She’s confronts Adam Pearce, saying she wants her hands on Asuka. He points out how the Women’s Title presentation and the Women’s Tag Title unification match are on his shoulders, so he asks her to leave Asuka alone. He assures her a rematch if she does, which she agrees to the deal.

Bayley

Bayley vs. Michin in a MITB qualifying match

Bayley enters first with Iyo Sky, followed by Michin with AJ Styles. The bell sounds off! Bayley tosses a shirt in Michin’s face to get the early advantage. While she’s focused on Styles, Michin delivers a suicide dive. They go back inside the ring with Michin using a couple of pinfall attempts and hammer fists. She chops and forearms at Bayley.

Michin with a hurricanrana and a jumping DDT off the second rope for another close two count. Mia Yim is crushing it tonight! Bayley plays possum but it actually backfires and she’s booted in the face. Bayley takes a cheap advantage by throwing Mia by the hair into the bottom turnbuckle, followed by the Rose Plant. Bayley advances! She wins!

Suddenly, Scarlett appears at ringside and throws red powder in his face. Karrion Kross comes out of nowhere and puts him in the Kross Jacket!

Ronda Rousey

A unification match for the Women's Tag Titles is proposed

We return to the show with Kayla Braxton introducing the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions and newest SmackDown stars, Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre.

Suddenly, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler come out! Baszler asks why Dawn & Fyre are calling themselves the Tag Champions. Shayna tells them that the Women’s Tag Team Titles from NXT were actually made because of her. Rousey says that they’re running out of opponents, so they want their NXT Women’s Tag Titles. Fyre and Dawn are down for a Title vs. Title match to unify the Women’s Tag Titles. They send Dawn out of the ring, but she rushes back in with a kick to Baszler.

Fyre gives a kick to Ronda to send her outside the ring. They address Shayna with a front-facing suplex and a knee to the mush. Rousey and Baszler leave as Fyre and Dawn pose inside the ring.

We then see a memorial video for The Iron Sheik.

Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has a message for Jey Uso

The LWO celebrates with Santos as we head to the backstage area. Sami confronts Jey, telling him that there’s something he never really got to tell him in The Bloodline. Sami says those were some of the best times of his life and career, and he knows Jey feels the same way. In a different universe and different time, they are still running together and loving that life.

But when Roman Reigns takes over and that Paul Heyman voice gets in his head, that’s when the paranoia and the manipulation starts up. Zayn felt like he does now with his back against the wall. Zayn says if he wants to be the next Tribal Chief, he gets that and he respects it. But whatever happens, consequences will happen like no more Usos. So, he needs to do what’s in his heart and not what’s being put in his ear.

Santos Escobar

Escobar wins it in impressive fashion

We come back with the two men struggling on the top rope, but neither man can get the clear advantage. Santos dives to the outside but is met with a dropkick in mid-air. Ali misses a 450 splash and is spiked into the turnbuckle. Santos with a poisonrana for another close two. Santos with double knees in the corner, but Ali reverses his next move and uses a tornado DDT for another close pinfall.

Ali tries to follow up by climbing to the top, but he eats an enziguri when he gets there. Santos puts Ali on his shoulder and delivers the phantom driver off the top rope for the win!

Mustafa Ali

Santos Escobar vs. Mustafa Ali in a MITB qualifying match

We see that the U.S. Title match between Jey Uso and Austin Theory has been made official for later on tonight. LA Knight comes down to do commentary for this next bout! Escobar and Ali argue in the ring a bit until they start battling, trading a couple of chops. Santos with a double forearm attack, but Ali comes back with a leg scissors to send him out of the ring.

Santos pulls Ali out of the ring and they trade some more chops and forearms back and forth. They head to the apron where Santos hits an enziguri, but Ali thwarts a vertical suplex. Santos comes back with a hurricanrana on Ali and sends him off the top step. Escobar with a suicide dive to torpedo into Ali. Escobar climbs to the top rope and delivers a diving crossbody to the outside as we go to a break.

Santos Escobar

Are you ready for some action??

We see a rundown of the card for tonight’s episode of SmackDown. Up next is Santos Escobar vs. Mustafa Ali for a spot in the MITB ladder match!

Jey Uso

Jey Uso is made an offer that's hard to resist

Before Paul Heyman can even get some words out, Jey Uso immediately enters and slowly makes his way down to the ring. Jey grabs a mic and stands across from Solo and Paul. He says he let a lot of things slide, but stabbing the big brother in the back is something you don’t do. He doesn’t know if he can forgive him for what happened, so he tells Solo to say what he needs to say about the situation.

Heyman grabs the mic and says that Jey has it all wrong. The reason being that it’s not Solo’s fault or anyone in the Bloodline — it’s all Jimmy’s fault. The crowd boos about that! Paul says it’s Jimmy’s fault because he made up his own mind not just for himself, but also for Jey. Paul asks Solo to take a step back. He says he’s taking a chance standing right in front of Jey, but he has something important to ask. Did Jimmy consult Jey before he kicked Roman in the face? No! Because he’s the older brother, right? Paul thinks Jimmy is resentful about the fact that Jey had the spotlight as a singles star when Jimmy was out of action.

Paul says, tonight, he is going to prove something. Heyman has set up a match to set up Jey to be the next “Tribal Chief.” Paul says because of what Jimmy did, there is no more team known as “The Usos.” As a singles star, Jey has a shot at the United States Title tonight against Austin Theory! Reigns will then “embrace him and publicly groom him” so he can become the Tribal Chief of The Bloodline. Jey says he’s down for the U.S. Title shot, but when Paul extends his hand out to make the deal, Jey hesitates for a long time. He says he’ll get back to Heyman with his answer as the segment ends.

SmackDown

WWE SmackDown Starts Now!!!

Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman names only other WWE star he would have worked with

Roman Reigns and The Bloodline started with two men: Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns. With Roman’s power and leadership skills and the wisdom accompanied by a cunning mind from Heyman, they took over WWE and expanded with The Usos and Solo Sikoa by their side.

In a new interview, Heyman emphasized that there were only a few people he foresaw as a legitimate candidates for his management skills: Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and Ronda Rousey. But due to what was unfolding in their respective lives, Heyman only had one clear choice.

“Ronda Rousey was having a baby. Brock Lesnar wasn’t coming back with Saudi [Arabia] being down. Kind of left Roman Reigns in there.”

WWE honors the life and legacy of The Iron Sheik

Tragic news emerged earlier this week when it was announced that The Iron Sheik passed away at the age of 81. He noted how Vince McMahon once told him he had to fire Sheik more than anyone else in the history of WWE.

Over the course of his career, Sheik was a World Heavyweight Champion, a Tag Team Champion, and joined the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.

WWE Hall of Famer and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle has had a career any wrestler would dream about, and with so many memories and achievements under his belt, Angle has a large variety to choose from when he considers his favorite. In the end, the moment when Angle’s character hosed down ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Stephanie McMahon, and the Alliance with a milk truck ranks at the tippy top.

“It was one of those things – you remember when Austin did the beer truck? It was the same thing,” Angle continued. “It was an incredible moment, and the great thing was it was tied to ‘Stone Cold.’”

Asuka

WWE discussing releasing a series of updated title belts

We’re in a season of WWE where Championship belts are being re-introduced and revamped like the World Heavyweight Title on Raw and the new Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Roman Reigns was recently awarded. It looks like the trend will continue, according to new reports. WWE has been discussing ways to simplify the design of WWE title belts so they aren’t tied to their respective brands.

It’s expected that Asuka will be awarded a new title belt tonight, which feels appropriate as Asuka is a SmackDown superstar that recently won the Raw Women’s Title from Bianca Belair.
