Live WWE SmackDown Updates, Results, & Reactions

Let’s wrap this week up with a new episode of WWE SmackDown, airing tonight at 8 pm EST! Follow along with our live SmackDown 6/30 coverage, results, and reactions, as well as any other breaking news of the day!

Today’s Biggest Stories:

LA Knight

Witness LA Knight entering the O2 Arena ahead of WWE Money in the Bank Weekend

Tomorrow night will be a career-changing evening for one of the seven men competing in this year’s Money in the Bank ladder match, as the winner will earn the right to battle for any Championship at any time over the next year. One of the downright favorites going into Saturday is LA Knight, and he knows it, too. During an interview with WWE.com where Knight was shown the O2 Arena before SmackDown, he emphasized just how confident he was ahead of the biggest match of his career.

I dig the setup. It’s different. Oh, those [Money in the Bank] cases are way up there… That’s what everyone is looking for tomorrow, man. You’ve got six other guys talking about what they’re going to do and what they’re thinking how they’re going to climb that ladder, but check it, man. You got everybody running around, you got everybody that’s going to be sitting in these seats tonight; 9/10 of them are going to be saying, ‘The winner of this Money in the Bank is going to be LA Knight.’ And why is that? Because the gravy train is going to roll right into London, right into O2 Arena tomorrow and they’re going to say, ‘Well, the match is called Money in the Bank, right?’ Yeah! But, guess what, I am Money in the Bank.”

Alicia Fox

Alicia Fox claims she and Nikki Bella were supposed to win Women's Tag Team Titles

Alicia Fox hasn’t been a mainstay in WWE since her departure back in November 2019, but spending over a decade with the company gave her countless experiences to remember. Fox hasn’t been in a WWE match since her surprise appearance as #21 in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble Match, but she still has wrestling on her mind. In fact, she revealed in a new stream that she was once pitched the idea of winning the Women’s Tag Team Champions with former Team Bella member Nikki Bella.

[WWE] told me, ‘Well, oh, you and Nikki Cross are going to win the [Women’s Tag Team] Titles.’ I’m like, ‘I can’t do that right now!’ So, this person, my friend at the time, drove me back to the hotel no problem, dropped me off, and, I mean, who knows the day they had in the locker room water chamber.”

WWE

Final Card For Money in the Bank 2023

One of WWE’s most beloved events of the year is on the horizon. Money in the Bank 2023 begins at 1 pm EST at the O2 Arena in London, England. The card is already stacked, with both a men’s and women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match, a Bloodline “Civil War,” and a World Heavyweight Title match between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor.

Interestingly enough, on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Michael Cole claimed that Cody Rhodes vs. Dominik Mysterio will be the main event of the premium live event, but time will tell if that is actually the course of action.

You can see the final card for Money in the Bank 2023 below:

  • Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Logan Paul vs. Ricochet vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar vs. Butch vs. Damian Priest
  • Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Zelina Vega vs. Zoey Stark vs. Becky Lynch vs. IYO SKY vs. Bayley vs. Trish Stratus
  • World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Finn Balor
  • Intercontinental Championship: Gunther (c) vs. Matt Riddle
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Dominik Mysterio
  • Bloodline Civil War: Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa vs. The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso)
  • Undisputed WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Shayna Baszler & Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Liv Morgan & Raquel Gonzalez
Jey Uso

The Usos get physical with Roman Reigns ahead of the highly-anticipated tag team match

Paul Heyman hands the microphone to Reigns, who tells London to acknowledge him. Reigns says it’s been a long time, almost two years, that he allowed The Usos to say they’re “The Ones.” But the truth is, it wasn’t about them being the ones. He is “the one” and the only one. It’s not about arrogance — he is the best, the head of the table, and the tribal chief. Reigns says he’s the only one that cares about his cousins and loves The Usos. It was him that gave them the opportunities and brought them to the promise land.

Roman says family that betrays you sucks, but the situation now is that he’s the only person in the family that still wants to give them another chance. He’s like the father, and as a good father and tribal chief, he wants to give The Usos infinite chance. But what they need to do is bow down, acknowledge me, and apologize so they can move on. Cue Jimmy and Jey Uso! And they’ve already got microphones with them.

Jimmy speaks first, telling the crowd that he’s got this whole thing twisted. He says they didn’t try to get back in — no. They are past the acknowledging and apologizing; it’s only consequences now. Jimmy asks if Reigns has considered the consequences if he happens to lose. Jey asks when the last time Roman was pinned and when the next time he’s going to get pinned, with the latter being “tomorrow night.” Jey says that when Roman loses, he’s the only one who is really out. When he loses, he’s not going to be Tribal Chief anymore. The Usos say neither of them want to be Tribal Chief, but they have someone who might fit the job perfect. Even though he’s tripping and tripping hard, The Usos would vote for Sikoa to be “The Tribal Chief.”

Roman laughs for a moment, but when he and Solo lock eyes, he gets serious. They stare one another down until Roman tells The Usos to shut their mouths. “Do you think this is a game?” he asks. Jey gets on the apron. Roman yells in his face, telling him he’s nothing without him. Jey shoves Reigns’ face while Jimmy sneaks into the ring and superkicks Roman. Solo goes on the offense!

Jey takes down Roman in the ring as Solo bears down Jimmy on the outside. Security runs down to the ring and attempts to break things up, but Roman still nails Jey with a Superman Punch inside the ring. He rolls out and starts clearing out the security guards to get to Jimmy. He beats down Jimmy at ringside as Jey leaps over the top rope and hits a huge crossbody to take Roman and Solo out!

Roman Reigns

The Civil War will rage on momentarily

We come back to the show with a rundown of the Money in the Bank card for Saturday. Here comes the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, alongside Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman.

Bianca Belaire

Bianca Belair makes a statement and disrupts the match

We return with Charlotte in control. She attempts a moonsault but has to land on her feet when Asuka avoids it. She follows up with a handspring press but Asuka puts the knees up. The Empress of Tomorrow with an armbar, but Charlotte reverses. Asuks off of the ropes and is hit with the spear for a close two count. Asuka is on the outside and she gets nailed with a moonsault from Charlotte.

Flair uses chops on Asuka right in front of Belair. Bianca waves her ticket to the show in Asuka’s face, but when Charlotte comes over for a big boot, Asuka pulls Belair into the way and she is hit. Asuka is planted with a back suplex on the ring apron, but Belair comes out of the audience and goes on the attack on Asuka, causing a disqualification. She clears off the announce table and wants to put Asuka through it, but Charlotte is pissed and tells Belair it’s her match.

Bianca says to get out of her face and then strikes Charlotte with a forearm. Flair with her own forearm, but then misses a spear and collides with the ring steps. Belair dodges a kick from Asuka and then hits the KOD on Belair into the announce table. She turns her attention to Charlotte and gives her the same treatment, using a KOD on Charlotte onto Asuka/the announce table.

Asuka

Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka

Charlotte enters first, followed by Asuka. The announcer does the proper intro for the Women’s Title Match before the bell rings, but there’s a distraction at ringside. Bianca Belair is sitting in the crowd since she was banned from ringside for this bout.

Here we go!Asuka goes for a kick and some spinning strikes but Charlotte avoids them and hits several chops. She misses a big boot and then suffers a German suplex. Charlotte catches Asuka in the corner and hits a German of her own. She kips up but gets hit with double knees from Asuka. Charlotte goes for a pin but is unsuccessful in her attempt. Charlotte is pulled off the top rope and then goes for a big boot. Asuka with a backstabber as we go to break.

AJ Styles

AJ Styles appears ready for Karrion Kross

AJ Styles delivers some words of his own to Karrion Kross. He says Kross can’t play by the rules, and if he can’t keep Scarlett on her “leash,” Minchin will.

Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair for the WWE Women’s Championship is next!

LA Knight

Butch vs. LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar

We get back to the show with this triple-threat match already underway.  Escobar is in control of Butch, hitting chops and forearms. He ducks out of an enziguri and then the two both perform dropkicks that miss each other. Knight comes in and wipes both men out to the delight of the fans. He stomps away at Butch in the corner and then delivers a running knee to Santos in the opposite corner.

Butch escapes a back suplex and then shoves Knight out of the ring. The three men collide with one another and then Butch tries stomps at the hands of Knight, but LA returns with this elevated back suplex maneuver. Escobar with leg scissors on Butch and then the same to Knight. He puts them both in the corner and nails the men with knees, then putting Butch on the top rope and hitting an enziguri. He uses a hurricanrana but Knight breaks it up at a 2 count. Knight with a powerslam and his signature jumping elbow drop for another two.

Knight goes to the outside of the ring and starts exchanging some words with Paul. Escobar tries for a suicide dive on Knight but he misses him and collides with Paul instead. Escobar leaps off the top rope into a right hand from Butch. Butch with the Bitter End for the victory and the momentum heading into MITB! He immediately goes to the outside of the ring and picks up a giant ladder. He sets it up and starts climbing, but Knight tosses him out of the ring and starts ascending. Paul does the same to Knight, but as he climbs, Butch pulls him down and clotheslines him over the ropes. Butch grabs the briefcase as the crowd cheers.

Logan Paul

Logan Paul appears on The Grayson Waller Effect

We come back from a break with Iyo Sky and Bayley backstage. Shotzi confronts them, saying she’s not done here! She tries to attack Damage CTRL but is suplexed onto a table for her efforts. Bayley cuts off Shotzi’s hair! She calls her a big freak and says she’s “done for” as Shotzi lays in pain.

Grayson Waller is in the ring and introduces us to “one of the fastest rising stars in the history of the industry,” Logan Paul. Logan comes down and grabs a microphone. Waller mentions his MITB ladder match this Saturday and asks what it would mean to Paul to have the MITB briefcase. Logan says that in London, it would mean a whole lot. He doesn’t understand the crowd’s boos because he’s competed with all of the top stars in the company.

Paul says he’s going to keep going until he wears one of the top belts. When he gets the briefcase, he could get revenge on Seth Rollins or restart his business with Roman Reigns. Or, he can just smack LA Knight against the head with it.

Knight comes out to a thunderous ovation! He tells Paul that he has proven a lot with the matches he’s been given, but that’s the key here. Knight wasn’t given a thing when he arrived in WWE but the crowd reacts to him because he made it that way. He has respect for Paul and the way he’s made a name for himself online, but he’s in Knight’s ring now. LA says the odds are in his favor because he is the one and only megastar with everyone saying, “LA Knight. Yeah!”

Paul says he doesn’t see a megastar because Knight was just supposed to be a manager after 20 years of a lackluster career. Paul says he’s lucky he’s even addressing him. Knight says if Paul hasn’t heard, he is the man around here. Paul tells the crowd to go back to the pubs because they’re drunk.

Santos Escobar comes down to the ring with a microphone of his own. He drops some words in Spanish and then says it’s time to get something straight: he’s the one who needs the briefcase. And if they keep acting crazy, they’re gonna end up with two members of the LWO with the briefcases. Butch appears and sprints to the ring. He cleans house and starts attacking Paul while Escobar crossbodies Knight on the outside of the ring.

Bayley

Bayley vs. Shotzi

Bayley makes her entrance first, and then Shotzi. The bell sounds! Bayley immediately gets some rights on Shotzi, but Shotzi comes off of the ropes and hits a bulldog. Right and a spinning forearm from Shotzi come next. She misses a knee in the corner but ends up hitting a suicide dive on Iyo Sky on the outside. Shotzi slides in the ring and immediately eats a Bayley-to-Belly suplex. Bayley hesitates for the cover, ending up with only a two count.

Shotzi blocks some vertical suplexes and turns it into a DDT. The UK are fans are singing their favorite song for Bayley right now! Shotzi strikes Bayley into the corner and delivers a running knee. Bayley blocks a German suplex but is hit with an enziguri instead. Shotzi seemed to tweak her knee on the execution, but she is still in the one! Shotzi hits a senton on Bayley’s back in the corner. She manages to hit the Sliced Bread #2 but Iyo pulls Bayley’s leg into the rope to save her from the three.

Shotzi tries to deal with Sky, allowing Bayley to rake at her eyes and hit the Rose Plant for the win!

Roman Reigns

A final glimpse at the evolution of The Bloodline and its downfall

We see a video package where Karrion Kross and Scarlett making it clear that they still have a target on AJ Styles. They will battle next week on SmackDown.

Another video package plays after that shows the history of The Bloodline ahead of their civil war this Saturday at Money in the Bank.

Bayley vs. Shotzi is coming up after the break!

Sheamus

Sheamus comes out to help his Fight Night brother

Theory continues the attack on Ridge after, but Sheamus rushes in and just barely misses a Brogue Kick on Theory. He escapes from the ring as Sheamus fumes and consoles Ridge.

We see a replay from Night of Champions when Jimmy Uso hit the superkick on Roman Reigns.

Austin Theory

Ridge Holland vs. Austin Theory

Theory makes his entrance first, followed by Ridge Holland, who receives a boisterous hometown reaction in front of The UK crowd. Sheamus and Butch appear to be letting Holland handle this one on his own. The bell rings! Ridge and Theory lock up, with Austin backing Ridge into the corner. He powers out and hits some abdomen shots and clubby blows to Theory. A knee to the face and a European uppercut come next.

Theory meets Ridge on the apron with a forearm, but Ridge pulls Theory into the ridge and hits an airplane spin maneuver for a two count. He throws Theory into the corner but is met with a kick to the abdomen and a clothesline to the back of the neck. He stomps down several times and then taunts the crowd to the sound of boos. Ridge breaks out of a headlock and uses a shoulder tackle. Two belly-to-belly tosses, a  headbutt, and then a finishing suplex are delivered by Ridge. He goes for a running powerslam but Theory slithers out and uses the ropes to attack Ridge’s throat. Theory with his rolling dropkick for a definitive win over Ridge!

Ridge Holland

Ridge Holland receives an important match

We see a replay of last week when Solo Sikoa attacked Ridge Holland out of anger, inspiring the main event between Solo and Sheamus. A replay of an earlier interview is shown where Holland demands a match against Solo tonight. Pearce doesn’t like that idea because of The Bloodline civil war that’s going on. Instead, Ridge will battle Austin Theory, and if he wins, he will be in contention for the United States Title going foward.

That match is next!

Kevin OWens

The Champs Hold On To Their Belts

We return with Pretty Deadly still in control. Wilson stomps down on Zayn and then puts him into another headlock. Zayn escapes and nearly gets to the corner, but it takes one more big back body drop to seal the deal. KO comes in, hammering fists, and stomps down on Prince. He punches Kit and Prince off of the apron and then runs around the ring and hits them with clotheslines. Kit also gets a senton for good measure.

KO with a superkick and his signature cannonball in the corner on Prince. Owens is limping on his ankle but still climbs to the top rope and hits the Swanton Bomb. Wilson breaks up the pinfall at 2! Zayn rushes in and throws Kit out of the ring, but Owens can’t follow up on Prince. Kit pulls Zayn off of the apron and into the steel steps while Prince starts working on the injured ankle of Owens. Dry Martini from Pretty Deadly for another close two-count!

Kit is in disbelief but tags Prince back in. They hit Spilled Milk, but Zayn breaks it up at the last moment! Kit hits Zayn off of the apron, and then KO hits Kit off of the apron. KO with a German suplex on Prince and then a tag to Sami. Kit also tags in and gets nailed with a Blue Thunder Bomb for another CLOSE two count. Wilson and Prince try to play some illegal tactics on KO and Zayn to steal the victory, but it doesn’t happen.

Zayn knocks Prince off of the apron and then delivers the Exploder Suplex to Wilson. Owens with a Stunner to Prince and Zayn with the Helluva Kick on Kit for the victory! Sami and Kevin retain!

Sami Zayn

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. Pretty Deadly

Owens and Zayn get a hyped reaction from the WWE Universe, while Pretty Deadly doesn’t get much of a reaction at all. The bell rings with Zayn and Kit Wilson getting things going. They lock up, but Zayn immediately puts in a wrist lock on Kit. He takes him down momentarily, but Wilson then rolls through and pulls him into a headlock. Zayn with his signature deep arm drag, followed by an armbar.

Wilson takes his time on the ropes, and as the ref is distracted, Prince gets a cheap shot in. Kit takes over, choking Zayn on the ropes and then tagging in his partner. Prince meets Zayn on the outside and slams his head against the announce table a couple of times as we go to break.

In a new interview with Nick Hausman, Morgan expressed interest in an all-women weekly television show.

There’s nothing that the men have done that we have not done, and so I just hope that we just keep getting more opportunity more time. Maybe an all-female show, who knows? Yeah, a weekly all-females show. We have the talent and the roster to do it. But I think just think at this time, we just appreciate being equal and not less than.”

WWE Highlights the Shattering of The Bloodline amidst Civil War

It may have seemed like The Bloodline would be reigning atop the WWE forever, but one superkick from Jimmy Uso to Roman Reigns at Night of Champions earlier this year changed everything. The destruction from within continues, with Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa joining forces this Saturday at Money in the Bank to battle Jimmy & Jey Uso in a “civil war” tag team match.

Before the inevitable chaos ensues, WWE’s YouTube channel has put together a compilation of the most crucial moments since The Bloodline began falling apart. You can check out the video below:

LA Knight

Exclusive: LA Knight Reflects On Working With Bray Wyatt And Controversial Pitch Black Match

LA Knight is gaining steam quickly in WWE, already becoming an established favorite in this Saturday’s Money in the Bank ladder match. But before it’s time to throw down in the ring, Knight caught up with Inside the Ropes to discuss some of the highlights of his WWE run, particularly his work with Bray Wyatt.

“Well I feel like that whole thing, that whole interaction for those few months kind of put me on the map a little bit. There I was in a very visible role finally, doing my thing, getting chance to make the most of the minutes as they say, because whether you give me 30 seconds or 30 minutes, I’m gonna make the damnedest of it, and I’m gonna make you remember it, and that’s exactly what I did.

So no matter how the Mountain Dew Match went, at the end of the day I knew I was gonna come out of there pretty damn peachy. From then on it’s just been this groundswell that’s been picking up from there, so I’ve been able to come out and just do my thing, be me, do me the way I know how to do, and I’m getting everyone as far away from zero as possible.

I’m gonna make you say somethin’ whether it’s good, bad, boo, cheer, do what you want.”
