Liv Morgan

Who do you think will be the next WWE Women's Tag Team Champions?

As noted in the blog earlier, Liv Morgan’s injuries are worse than anticipated, and she will be out of action indefinitely. Due to the unfortunate circumstances, Raquel Rodriguez & Morgan were forced to vacate their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. We will crown new Women’s Tag Champs on the May 29th episode of Raw when Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler battle Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green, Bayley & Iyo Sky, and Raquel Rodriguez and a mystery partner in a four-way battle.

It looks like pretty much anyone could pull the win out on this one, but let us know which duo you believe will become the next Women’s Tag Team Titles by sharing your take at this link.

WWE will film this episode of the show following tonight’s live edition of the blue brand.

Jey Uso

The Usos fall in the main event of SmackDown

We return from the final break of the night with Jimmy hitting punches on Santos, but Escobar throws punches in return. Jimmy tosses Escobar face-first into the turnbuckle and rolls him up for a close two. The rest of The Bloodline look on from the backstage area. Jimmy delivers some punches and chops. Escobar comes back with a dropkick, and the two men struggle to get to their partners.

Jey tags in first and cuts off the LWO. Escobar gets a small package on Jey for a two. LWO returns with some more strikes, but Santos eats a double elbow strike to ground him once again. Jimmy hits a hard running hip-attack in the corner on Santos. He tries for one more, but Santos uses a desperate jumping knee and tags in Mysterio. Jey comes in, too, but Rey is dominant, hitting a leg scissors, a forearm, and a seated senton. A springboard crossbody comes next, but Jey still kicks out at two.

Jey with a superkick to the abdomen and an uppercut. Rey claps back with a kick and a code red for another close two.Rey kicks Jey in the head, but Jimmy takes a cheap shot on the apron with a kick of his own. Jey uses a gnarly neckbreaker to get yet another close two count. Jimmy is tagged in — The Usos attempt a double vertical suplex but he knees them in their heads to get away. Rey sends them tumbling outside the ring. Santos Escobar with a soaring senton splash onto the outside men.

Back inside, Jimmy hits an enziguri on Santos but eats a jumping knee. Escobar with another running knee, this time, in the corner turnbuckles. He uses a hurricanrana off the top rope for a two count of his own. The crowd is loving it!!! Rey tags in and LWO uses a neckbreaker/leg drop, but at the last second of the three-count, Jey slides in to break it up. Santos is superkicked off the apron.

The Usos take over with a superkick and Uso splash to Rey for a CLOSE two! Will the 1D win this one? They try for a double Uso Splash this time, but Owens starts walking down to the ring with a distraction. Zayn helps Rey on the other side of the ring, setting up Jmmy for the 619 and a splash from Santos. LWO WINS IT! The Usos lose this one due to some strength in numbers. Roman Reigns is going to be infuriated. We see him backstage where it appears Solo Sikoa is ready to go attack The Usos, but Roman holds him back for now.

Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar vs. Jimmy & Jey Uso

The Usos come down to the ring without any backup. The bell rings with Rey Mysterio and Jey Uso getting things going — Jey tackles him into The Uso’s corner where Jimmy tags in and attacks. Mysterio is Irish whipped hard into the corner and crumbles down into the mat. Jimmy kicks Rey to the abdomen, but Rey hits the same move back. Santos Escobar tags in and hits a kick to the opponent.

Rey and Escobar send The Usos outside of the ring and do a fake-out 619. The LWO pose together as The Usos look on in frustration.

Jey Uso

The Usos are "forgiven" but will come to the ring without Roman Reigns

Paul Heyman addresses The Usos backstage, telling them that Roman Reigns forgives them. Jimmy asks if that means he will be at ringside tonight, but Paul says no. It’s because Roman is extremely busy with Night of Champions and his 1000th day celebration coming up. It’s just the LWO, says Paul, so make sure it’s a solid win. The Usos give Paul a somber “yeet” and head to the ring.

Here comes The LWO! Up next, Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar vs. Jimmy & Jey Uso…

Austin Theory

Austin Theory gets dropped by Sheamus

We return with Theory telling the fans, “Welcome to Austin Theory live!” He says everyone know who he is, but coming to SmackDown last week wasn’t what he expected. He says he was ganged up on by two former World Champions: Bobby Lashley & Sheamus. Theory explains that the reason they made sure he was out of the equation for the World Heavyweight Title because he would have won it.

He realizes Bobby Lashley is obsessed with him and dislikes him, but why is Sheamus? Theory thinks he and Sheamus have plenty in common like how they both love lifting weight and how they both beat John Cena. However, he didn’t beat Cena anytime soon. This triggers Sheamus to come down to the ring and confront Theory.

Sheamus looks him directly in the face before grabbing the mic. Instead of talking, he just Brogue Kicks Theory and drops the mic! Sheamus – out!

Raquel Gonzalez

Big news regarding the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles

Big news!!! In two weeks on Monday Night Raw, there will be a four-way match to determine the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions because Liv Morgan is out of action indefinitely. It will be Raquel Rodriguez & a partner of her choosing vs. Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler vs. Damage CTRL vs. Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville.

Kayla Braxton is standing by with Rodriguez. She tells Liv Morgan that even though they had to relinquish the titles, the way she pulled through last week was proof that she was a Champion. Giving up the titles was devastating, but she’s not giving up. Damage CTRL shows up and tells Bayley that Dakota Kai getting hurt is the bigger travesty. She says that she and Iyo Sky will be waiting for her next week if she can find a partner.

Here comes Austin Theory!

Alba Fyre

Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre make a statement in SmackDown debut

Back from the commercial, Karrion Kross appears with Scarlett. They show a tarot card to reveal who they’re after next, with the victim being AJ Styles.

We see a replay from this past Monday’s Raw when Cody Rhodes had a passionate promo about Brock Lesnar. Lesnar and Rhodes will fight at Night of Champions!

Coming up next is the SmackDown debut of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn. They’re going against two random ladies that don’t get a proper intro. Fyre starts out and hits one with a headbutt and a jumping knee to the head. Dawn comes in and puts her in a scorpion as Fyre kicks her. The teammate is tagged in and is tossed off the top rope from Dawn.

Isla with a running knee. She then tags in Fyre, and they use a gory bomb/Russian leg sweep tandem finisher to annihilate the two jobbers. Easy peasy!

Cameron Grimes

Cameron Grimes hits the signature catch phrase!

Knight picks Boogs up and hugs him, but it’s a trick. He kicks him in the gut and uses his finisher to take Boogs out.

We see Cameron Grimes in an interview backstage. After winning his match against Corbin last week, it feels like he’s living the dream on SmackDown. Grimes is ready to go “To the Moon!” He laughs and walks away.

We see The Usos getting hyped up for their match against LWO. It’s coming up soon!

MontezFord

Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins of The Street Profits vs. Rick Boogs & LA Knight

Rick Boogs & LA Knight make their individual entrances as we come back to the show. Knight gives a promo about how he is looking for Championship gold on SmackDown, and that means the Tag Team Titles are unsafe. He’s certain he can beat the Street Profits with any teammate, so he chose Rick Boogs.

The bell rings with Ford and Boogs. Montez tries for a running clothesline but it’s ineffective. A second is blocked and then Boogs presses Ford over his head ten times and tosses Ford to his corner. “I’m boogin’ out!” Rick yells. Dawkins tags in but is overpowered and nailed with a shoulder tackle that floors him. Rick uses Dawkins like a weight and curls him seven times before hitting a fallaway slam.

LA Knight is tagged in and the two powerhouses hit a tandem shoulder tackle. Knight uses a powerslam. He does his “LA Knight” taunt and uses a running elbow drop for a two count. Ford is tagged in and uses a double crossbody. He clotheslines Knight and then superkicks and enziguris Boogs. Knight is tossed out of the ring. Boog is, too, and then Ford hits them with a diving senton over the top rope. Profits with a spinebuster and a HUGE frog-splash for the win.

MontezFord

Street Profits will be in action next!

Street Profits vs. Rick Boogs & LA Knight is coming up after the break!

Grayson Waller

AJ Styles appears on The Grayson Waller Effect

Waller has a grand entrance. He welcomes the audience to the Grayson Waller Effect and introduces AJ Styles. Waller reminds Styles about their run-ins back in NXT. He thinks Styles was right that he’s been phenomenal for over two decades and is a surefire Hall of Famer. He asks Styles what winning the World Heavyweight Title would mean to him.

Styles recalls how long he was out with this most recent injury. When he finally got cleared, he trained harder than ever before so he could come back better than ever. Styles has that opportunity now, and he wants the World Heavyweight Title more than people need to breath. AJ knows that Rollins is out right now while working on the Marvel movie, but he hopes he’s staying in shape and will be ready, because he definitely is.

Waller says that he’s most excited for the ending of Styles vs. Rollins because the announcer will say, “And NEW World Heavyweight Champion: Seth “Freakin’ Rollins.” AJ is ticked off but the segment ends with the two men face-to-face.

The LWO is shown briefly backstage, and they talk about how they want to be Hall of Famers like Rey Mysterio someday. The way they will achieve that is big wins, like their match against The Usos tonight. Mysterio thinks The Usos are going to learn not to mess with the LWO tonight.

AJ Styles

Are you ready for the Grayson Waller Effect?

A video package is shown about the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament and how AJ Styles and Seth Rollins will battle for the belt at Night of Champions.

The Grayson Waller Effect with special guest AJ Styles is coming up next!

Asuka

Asuka is still on top

We return with Asuka in control, tossing Vega by the hair and kicking her in the face. Another kick is reversed, allowing Vega to hit some forearms. Asuka Irish whips her in the corner but is met with a knee and a basement dropkick. Vega hits a drop toehold and uses the 619 on Asuka! She climbs up to the top rope and uses the meteora for a close two count!

Asuka smiles! Asuka can’t hit the code red. Zelina rolls through with some unique pinning combinations until Asuka slides through with the Auska lock. Asuka uses a sickening armbar that gives her the submission victory. She won’t let go, though! Bianca Belair runs down for the save as Asuka slithers away. Asuka tries to mist Bianca, but it only just barely hits Belair.

Asuka

Asuka vs. Zelina Vega

We see Zelina Vega backstage, who tells us that the love and support she received from the people in Puerto Rico, she realized she was going to be a top dog of the women’s division. When she gave it all to Rhea Ripley, she proved she can defeat the best, and Asuka will see that now. Vega puts on a unique mask and comes down to the ring!

The bell rings and Asuka immediately misses a kick. Vega gives a kick in return and gets a close two count on Asuka. Vega with a dropkick to the back, then going for a 619. She miss and is met on the outside of the ring. Asuka picks her up and drops her face-first onto the announce table as we go to commercial.

Asuka

The Empress of Tomorrow has arrived

We return from the break with the entrance of Asuka! She’ll battle Zelina Vega next!

Billy Graham

A tribute to "Superstar" Billy Graham

We see a video tribute of “Superstar” Billy Graham who passed away this past Wednesday at the age of 79. Rest in peace, Legend ❀️

Elton Prince

Pretty Deadly earn the win in their SmackDown debut

Prince is in control, hitting a European uppercut in the corner on Ridge. Pretty deadly make several tags and use tandem offense like a double shoulder tackle and then a splash/leg drop on a downed Ridge. Prince gets hits in the stomach and face with strikes, followed by a straight-up tackle from Ridge. Wilson tags in and secures a sleeper hold on Holland.

Ridge eventually makes it over to Butch, who runs in and hits enziguri and German suplexes left and right on Pretty Deadly. He stomps on their hands and hits an X-plex on Wilson for a close two count. Butch kicks Wilson in the ear on the top rope, but he’s shoved off. Holland tags in and puts both members of Pretty Deadly on his shoulders! He drops them with ease.

Butch and Holland do a tandem ten beats of the Bodhran as a tribute to Sheamus. The referee is distracted by Butch as Pretty Deadly work together to hit their Spilt Milk finisher. They get the win! Pretty Deadly win their first SmackDown match!

Butch

Ridge Holland & Butch vs. Pretty Deadly

Before the match starts, we get a silly video from Pretty Deadly where they’re cooking up the ingredients that make up Pretty Deadly. Elton Prince & Kit Wilson.

The match gets started with Wilson and Butch exchanging blows. Butch with a hard knee, but Wilson throws Butch down by his hair and tags in Prince. Pretty Deadly go on the tandem attack, but Butch counters and stomps on their hands. Holland gets the tag and sets Prince up for a dropkick straight to the face from Butch. Ridge nails a delayed vertical suplex, but Prince gets a quick tag and Wilson runs in with a DDT.

Roman Reigns

The Bloodline comes face to face with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

Reigns comes down to the ring with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman. We then see a replay of last week when the drama unfolded between the Bloodline. Roman tells the crowd in Columbia, South Carolina, to acknowledge him.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn come out immediately! They walk down to the ring where Reigns tells KO and Sami that this was always his plan. Roman says there are only two things to do and they can do them right now. Reigns tells the Tag Team Champions that they need to acknowledge him and then drop off the title belts on the way out of the ring.

Owens just tosses the microphone to the side, but Sami holds him back. Roman tells him, “Figures, fight Owens, fight. That’s what you want to do.” Roman tells them that he doesn’t even want to talk to Kevin. Reigns explains that his entire career has seen a number of highs and lows, but the biggest regret he has is wasting his life on Zayn. Zayn agrees, and says his biggest regret is that he didn’t get a chance to hit him with a chair sooner.

Zayn is glad that Roman’s greed has led them to this because he gets another chance to beatdown Reigns once more. Sami tells Roman that his whole life, everyone told him he’s the best and gave him everything. But at Night of Champions, he is not going to get the Tag Team Titles. Why? Because Roman is “just not as good as” them or The Usos. Reigns is amused. He asks, “That’s how you feel?”

Roman claims he took it easy on them. Suddenly, The Usos jump Kevin and Zayn! They are tossed out of the ring and eat superkicks. The Usos pose inside the ringand try to embrace Reigns, but Jimmy is rejected. The Tribal Chief is infuriated that The Usos tried to help! He leaves the ring but accidentally bumps Solo Sikoa on the way out. There’s a moment of hesitation by both men before Reigns leaves.

SmackDown

WWE SmackDown starts now!

Alas, it’s time for a new episode of SmackDown! We see the crowd as Michael Cole welcomes us to the University of South Carolina!

Roman Reigns is coming out first!!!

Orange Cassidy will be a busy man next week, but he may not even make it to Double or Nothing to defend his International Title in the 21-man Blackjack Battle Royale.

This Wednesday, he’s scheduled to face Aussie Open’s Kyle Fletcher. Fletcher, one-half of the IWGP Tag Team Champions, will look to add another belt to his collection and secure a ticket to Double or Nothing.

Booker T

Booker T says one major factor is holding Bray Wyatt back

Bray Wyatt has become somewhat of a polarizing figure in WWE; some fans love the cinematic, magical twists he brings to the product, while others think it’s something better left forgotten. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T is someone who actually enjoys the eerie theatrics Wyatt brings to the mix in WWE. However, on a new episode of his Hall of Fame Podcast, Booker explained why Wyatt has never remained in that top spot in WWE.

β€œI think that’s the problem that Bray Wyatt has had, being that magical creature and not being able to go out there and, I wouldn’t even call them five-star matches or anything like that, but just really good matches,” Booker said. β€œI think that’s what’s held Bray Wyatt back more than anything.”

Adam Cole

New matches added to AEW Double or Nothing

It’s been an eventful night on AEW Rampage so far, which started at a special time of 6:30 pm EST this week. Two new matches have been added to the lineup for Double or Nothing on May 28: Ethan Page & The Gunns vs. The Hardys & Isiah Kassidy and a TBS Title defense by Jade Cargill vs. Taya Valkyrie. It was later confirmed in the show that Chris Jericho and Adam Cole will also clash at the pay-per-view, but they will battle in an unsanctioned match.

Valkyrie challenged the champ by answering her “open challenge” on Rampage, but instead of going for the belt tonight, she hit Jade Cargill with the Wings of Valhalla finisher and told her she’ll see her at Double or Nothing. Valkyrie also added:

Who’s that b*** now?!

Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins reportedly missing the final Raw before Night of Champions

Seth Rollins is on the run of a lifetime — not only is he about to battle AJ Styles in the finals of the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament at Night of Champion, but he’s also appearing in the new Captain America: New World Order Marvel film. Having his hands in several different pots understandably creates time constraints, though.

Due to his schedule filming Captain America 3, Rollins will be absent on this next episode of Monday Night Raw, according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer. Like how they handled the situation last week, WWE will air footage from an interview between Rollins and Corey Graves instead of having “The Visionary” appear in person.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny "Thought He Was Going To Die" From WWE Backlash Match

Bad Bunny is, by all accounts, “that guy.” He can create Internationally loved music, put on an exceptional pro wrestling match, and do it all while looking stylish. But everything comes with some sacrifices, and Bunny opened up about just how much pain he was actually in following the recent San Juan street fight he had against Damian Priest at WWE Backlash 2023.

β€œWow, that was insane. That was really crazy, the people, the energy was another level. What happened that night, I’m never going to forget it,” he said. β€œI remember, I said before the WrestleMania fight that day was one of my favorite moments of my life, but the Backlash fight in Puerto Rico was another level. It was really one of the biggest and best moments of my life, I really enjoyed that fight.

I suffered. Yeah, I got hurt. I got hurt. My back, my back. My whole body, bro. My whole body. I felt that I was going to die after that match. I really thought that I was going to die after the match, but it’s part of it. I was prepared then, and now I’m going to drop a song. I know. I’m a crazy guy. I love it. I love it, and that’s what matters,”

It’s still in the talking stages, but WWE President Nick Khan confirmed that the idea is being spitballed around.
