Omos

MVP emphasizes that Brock Lesnar isn't ready for Omos

After tonight’s weigh-in-turned-battle between Brock Lesnar and Omos, The Nigerian Giant and his manager, MVP, took time backstage to discuss how they’re feeling heading into WrestleMania weekend. MVP, confident as ever in his client, sees Brock’s recent behavior as a sign that “The Beast Incarnate” is on the defensive.

“Brock Lesnar was so humiliated last week that he wanted to make a statement this week. And, instead of it being a weigh in, he violently attacked the Nigerian Giant. So much so that he even picked up a scale. Brock Lesnar grabbed a weapon to try to attack the Nigerian Giant. That tells me that Brock Lesnar was scared,” MVP said.

Like he mentioned earlier in the night on Raw, MVP sees Lesnar inevitably failing to defeat Omos because he won’t be able to deliver his signature moves on someone so massive.

“He can’t do anything to The Nigerian Giant that he’s ever done before. The only thing that Brock Lesnar can do to The Nigerian Giant is lose to him at WrestleMania.”

“At WrestleMania, I am going to destroy Brock Lesnar!” Omos added.

Seth Rollins

Current matches that have a confirmed night for WrestleMania 39

Following tonight’s WWE Raw, we’ve received some more news about which matches will take place on which WrestleMania night. As it stands, night two only has Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship listed on the card. Night one, however, is shaping up in a much clearer fashion.

Night 1

  • Austin Theory (c) vs. John Cena for the WWE United States Championship
  • Seth Rollins vs. Logan Paul
  • Trish Stratus and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Becky Lynch and Lita vs. Damage CTRL (Bayley, IYO SKY, and Dakota Kai)
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Omos
  • Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Rhea Ripley for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

Night 2

  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio is looking ahead to major weekend

Following tonight’s WWE Raw, Rey Mysterio spoke with Byron Saxton about the various emotions he’s feeling heading into one of the biggest weekends of his life. Not only is Mysterio being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this Friday, but he will also be facing his son, Dominik, in a one-on-one match at WrestleMania this weekend.

“You always hope that one day, you get inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, where all the legends are. And I’m a week away from being inducted – it’s very, very mind-boggling. I am so honored and privileged.”

And though the sentimental feelings are coursing through Rey, so is the bitterness he’s currently holding toward his own son and WrestleMania opponent, Dominik.

“When your kids get out of line, you have to make sure you straighten them out. And that’s what is going to go down at WrestleMania.”

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa

Rhodes and Sikoa lock up. Rhodes attempts to hit a shoulder tackle to gain the advantage, but Sikoa thwarts it off. Cody delivers a picture-perfect dropkick but then receives a samoan drop for his effort. The action moves to the outside of the ring, with Cody slamming Sikoa’s leg into the ring post with force. Rhodes moves to the ring apron to compose himself for a moment, but he’s met with a running forearm and is sent into the Raw announce table. Rhodes fires back, slamming Sikoa’s head into the table multiple times and then sprinting into the ring to hit a suicide dive back to the outside. However, Sikoa catches him and then delivers back-to-back uranages on Rhodes, spiking him into the announce table each time.

Back from the break, Sikoa nails a splash on Cody into the corner turnbuckles, followed up by several strikes and a headbutt. Rhodes answers with an elbow strike and his signature scoop powerslam. Momentum looks to be in Cody’s favor as he hits his signature moves one right after the other: disaster kick, a cody cutter, and the cross-Rhodes; however, Sikoa manages to slide his foot on the bottom rope to break the pinfall. Rhodes is in desperation mode and attempts a moonsault from the top rope but he ultimately misses. An attempt at the Samoan spike from Sikoa is reversed into the Cody Cutter, but before he can take advantage, The Usos come down to the ring to distract Cody. Shortly after, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens make their ways down to the ring to confront The Usos and a battle ensued on the entrance ramp. Sikoa sets Rhodes up for one more Samoan spike to finish the match but Cody reverses it into a cross-Rhodes for the 1-2-3!

Gunther

Gunther vs. Dolph Ziggler

Gunther vs. Ziggler gets off to a quick start, with Ziggler hitting a dropkick and a DDT right off the bat. Gunther returns with his signature vicious chops before draping Ziggler across the top turnbuckle and stepping on his neck.

Returning from the commercial, Ziggler connects with a headbutt and a kick to the mid-section. He then follows it up with the famouser, but it doesn’t keep Gunther down long. He hits another chop, a german suplex, a powerbomb, and the last symphony to secure the three-count.

Gunther then grabs a microphone and tells Sheamus and Drew McIntyre that the same fate awaits them this weekend at WrestleMania.

Rey Mysterio

Damian Priest vs. Rey Mysterio

Before the match even got underway, Dominik Mysterio, who was accompanying his fellow Judgment Day member Damian Priest to the ring, took to the mic and delivered a seething promo about his family. After watching the replay from SmackDown where he was yelling in his mother’s face and then got punched by his father, Dominik questions aloud what kind of mother and father would condone striking their own child. Dom says he wishes he would have yelled shut up to his mother a long time ago, and furthermore, he wishes Eddie Guerrero had been his real father and Rey never existed in the first place.

Returning from a commercial break, the bell rings, and Rey immediately strikes with quick offense against the powerful Priest. After a kick, a neckbreaker, and a senton, Rey hits a springboard moonsault and gets a near fall on Priest. Priest retaliates with some offense of his own but misses a kick, setting him up for Rey’s signature 619. Rey gets shut down and hit with a clothesline. After kicking out of a near fall, Rey is tossed into the turnbuckles. Rey sets Priest up for a 619 by hitting a hurricanrana on Priest into the ropes. But as he climbed atop the ropes to follow-up, Dom pulled him down and caused a disqualification in favor of Rey.

A beatdown on Rey commenced until Legado Del Fantasma ran down to the ring and cleared out Judgment Day.

Candice LaRae

Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green vs. Candice LeRae & Michin

Michin and Sonya Deville start out the match with a lock-up. Sonya pushes Michin into turnbuckles and taunts, allowing Michin to deliver a running boot to gain the advantage. Michin attempts her cannonball maneuver but Deville evades and makes it over to Green for a tag. Green doesn’t stay in long however, slapping Michin and then tagging Deville back in. They attempt a tandem suplex but Michin reverses and gets the hot tag on LaRae. From this point on, Michin and LaRae were on a tear, hitting crossbodies, a running elbow, and tag team maneuvers that made them appear like a legitimate team. Green took an opportunity to distract the referee, which allowed Deville to get a cheap shot on an unsuspecting Michin. This allowed Green to follow up with the Unprettier and score the 3-count.

Deville and Green now join the teams of Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez, Natalya & Shotzi, Ronda Rousey & Shayna Bazler in a four-way tag team match at WrestleMania 39.

Austin Theory

Austin Theory says he won't let John Cena go down as a hero

Austin Theory appeared on tonight’s episode of Raw, standing in the ring in an empty arena as he delivered a pre-taped promo. In it, Theory blamed Cena for making things personal between them. Even though men, women, and children look up to Cena as some hero, Theory says Cena will look up at him by the time their WrestleMania match ends. He promises that he will make Cena believe in him while, at the same time, making the fans lose their faith in Cena.

Braun Strowman

The Street Profits, Ricochet, & Braun Strowman vs. Alpha Academy & The Viking Raiders

Chad Gable and Angelo Dawkins are the two men to start the match, locking up and exchanging some submission holds before Dawkins nailed a shoulder tackle followed by an arm drag. Gable responds with his own arm drag before some hot tags between Ricochet and Braun Strowman. Montez Ford then tagged in to the delight of the crowd, but his momentum with a chop was quickly halted by a shoulder tackle from Gable.

Returning from the commercial, Erik and Ford are clashing in the middle of the ring. Erik has Ford in a chin lock, but he manages to escape. That doesn’t last long, though, as Erik hits him with a knee and trades tags with his partner, Ivar, to inflict combined damage on Ford. Ford kicks out of a near fall and manages to tag in Otis, who comes in hot with a splash. Otis follows that up with a jumping elbow drop as Maxxine Dupri is shown watching with delight backstage.

Dawkins and Ivar get tagged into the match. They exchange blows before Ivar gets Erik back in the match. Erik and Ivar hit tandem offense on Dawkins, followed by a pinfall, but Ricochet manages to break it up with a shooting star press. Strowman has his moment to shine as he uses his running shoulder tackles on the outside, followed by a spinebuster to Erik. The finish of the bout came when Ricochet climbed atop Strowman’s shoulders for a swanton bomb followed by a rotating splash from the top from Ford.

FInn Balor

Finn Balor confirms The Demon will return at WrestleMania

In a pre-taped video package, Finn Balor sent a message to Edge ahead of their Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania. He welcomed Edge to summon his darkest side using candles or whatever is necessary, but, for Balor, his demon is always there. A quick video edit then flashed his Demon facepaint over his real face as the video concluded.

Rhea Ripley

Rhea Ripley vows to defeat Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania

Backstage, Ripley is interviewed by Byron Saxton. She makes it clear her focus is set on her match against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania this weekend. She says this is a must-win situation for her because she has to beat Flair and take the SmackDown Women’s Championship to prove she’s the biggest and best in the industry. It’s Ripley’s destiny vs. Charlotte’s legacy at ‘Mania, and Ripley promises that she will emerge the victor.

Brock Lesnar

Omos and Brock Lesnar weigh in gets chaotic

Omos and MVP come down to the ring before Brock, with MVP taking the time to deliver a promo about Brock Lesnar’s legacy at WrestleMania. He mentions victories over Kurt Angle, Goldberg, Roman Reigns, and even Undertaker to break the legendary streak. The thing that sets Omos apart, however, is his size. MVP is certain that Lesnar will lose because he’s unable to hit his finishing F-5 on someone as big as Omos.

Omos weighs in at a whopping 405 lbs. Brock then comes down to the ring, but instead of weighing in like expected, he immediately went for an attack on Omos. Despite his efforts, he was unable to knock Omos off his feet completely. “The Beast Incarnate” then grabbed the scale to use as a weapon but Omos gave him a boot and sent him rolling out of the ring.

Mustafa Ali

Seth Rollins vs. Mustafa Ali

We come back from a commercial with Ali already in the ring and ready to compete. Meanwhile, the crowd sings Rollins’ song for long after he makes his entrance. The match is essentially a squash match, with Rollins whipping Ali into the corner but Ali getting a right hand in retaliation. Rollins delivers a lariat and multiple stomps in the corner on Ali. As Mustafa begins climbing the top turnbuckle, he’s met with a right to the spine, which causes him to fall back and hang upside down from the top rope. Rollins hits him with a curb stomp off the top rope, followed by another curb stomp for the victory.

Seth follows up on his victory by telling the crowd that if he loses to Paul at WrestleMania 39, then Paul isn’t the clown; Seth actually is. He then encourages the live crowd to sing his theme music as he tells Logan he’ll see him at ‘Mania.

Seth Rollins

Interview with Seth Rollins leads to a surprise match against Mustafa Ali

The same week he’s set to face Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39, Seth Rollins reveals that Mustafa Ali will have an unexpected match against him this evening!

With rumors circulating that Ali is set for a big push after ‘Mania, will he pull a major upset and defeat “The Visionary?”

Iyo Sky

Becky Lynch vs. IYO Sky

Lynch gets the upper hand early on, hitting IYO with strikes and a splash in the corner. Bexsploder suplexes follow, but as she goes for a leg drop on a downed IYO, Damage CTRL pulls her to safety. This opens the window for IYO to take advantage, as she hits double knees and a dropkick for a two-count. They deliver various elbows, kicks, and lariats. Lynch catches IYO with a baseball slide under the bottom rope, followed by an inverted DDT. SKY comes back with a double stomp as we transition into a commercial break.

Back from the commercial, Lynch hits a superplex from the top rope on SKY but only manages to get a two-count. IYO connects with two german suplexes into a bridged cover, but it still isn’t enough to finish off Lynch. As Lynch attempts to climb to the top rope, she’s hit with a springboard dropkick that sends her to the outside. SKY isn’t finished with her high-flying offense there — she then soars to the outside with a springboard moonsault on the outside to Lynch. A few more counters and close falls follow, but Lynch’s Manhandle Slam gives her the three-count and the momentum over Damage CTRL going into WrestleMania.

Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch, Lita, and Trish Stratus appear on Miz TV

Raw kicked off with some heated words between the six women involved in this weekend’s six-person tag team match at WrestleMania. Appearing on Miz TV, Trish Stratus and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Lita and Becky Lynch were grilled by The Miz about why they’ve made certain choices, like why Lynch called Stratus and Lita to take care of Damage CTRL.

Lynch pointed out how much of a thorn in her side Damage CTRL has been, so she needed to call on two people she could trust. Miz then turned his attention to Lita, but her answer was interrupted by the arrival of IYO SKY, Dakota Kai, and Bayley. Bayley took to the mic and explained that this would have once been a dream match for their faction, but it’s changed to a test to take out the top in the division and two Hall of Famers.

Lynch gives a heated response to Bayley, pointing to the lack of accomplishments IYO and Dakota have achieved since joining Damage CTRL. Since this didn’t end at WarGames, in a steel cage match, or when Lita and Lynch won the Women’s Tag Team Titles, it can only end at WrestleMania.

Trish Stratus

Trish Stratus recalls scrapped plans to team with Beth Phoenix

Ahead of her scheduled appearance on tonight’s Raw, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus took some time out of her busy schedule to speak with SHAK Wrestling. A portion of the discussion delved into her legendary feud with Mickie James that began back in 2005. Stratus revealed that there were originally plans to have fellow WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix portray an “enforcer” character and become a more prominent part of their storyline.

“It’s funny because they wanted her to be like a strong, silent type, which is cool and powerful. When we looked at how she ended up coming back, it was much better … I think she didn’t need to be in our thing and it just worked. It would’ve been a fun trio for sure, and especially when the storyline turned, it would’ve been interesting to see how it played out between us. But, yeah, I think everything played out the way it should’ve when I look back at everything,” Stratus said.

Stratus and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions LIta and Becky Lynch are scheduled to be guests on Miz TV during tonight’s episode of the red brand. Stay tuned for the latest updates from the show!
