Liv Morgan finally achieved her dream at Money In The Bank back in July. Not only did the star climb ladder to success when she beat six other women to capure the Money In The Bank briefcase, but later the same night she cashed in on Ronda Rousey to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship, the first title in her career.
Weeks later, Morgan defended the title against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam. The ending was controversial as the champion tapped out to Rousey’s Armbar as the referee counted to three, but it will still go down in the record books as a successful defence against the Baddest Woman On The Planet and means that Liv Morgan has an impressive achievement to her name.
Liv Morgan is the only woman to defeat Ronda Rousey twice
Liv Morgan reflected on beating Ronda Rousey twice on ‘Twin Talk with Haley & Hanna Cavinder’, saying it’s “amazing”.
“I’m the only person in the whole entire world to beat her twice. It was amazing. honestly. Growing up a huge fan of WWE since I was 5 years old, you know the goal is to be women’s champion. So to win Money in the Bank and to cash in the same night on Ronda Rousey, it was unreal.”
Following her loss at SummerSlam, Rousey snapped and locked in the Armbar on Morgan again and then a referee. This led to the star being suspended for several weeks. On her return, she won the Number 1 Contendership to Morgan’s title and challenged her to an Extreme Rules match at the eponymous Premium Live Event. This time, Rousey recaptured the SmackDown Women’s Championship when she locked in the Armbar and forced Morgan to pass out.
Morgan says that, while she was one of Rousey’s first friends in WWE, the title feud has ended that relationship.
“Since our title feud, we’ve steered pretty far away from each other. But beforehand, I think I was one of her first friends here in WWE. That’s why when I won the title, she respected what I did and she was actually happy for me. But yeah now, no I don’t like her anymore.”
