Liv Morgan Set For Huge SummerSlam Match

Following her emotional SmackDown Women’s Championship win, it has been reported that Liv Morgan will defend the title in a huge match at SummerSlam.

In the opening match at WWE Money in the Bank, Liv Morgan climbed high above Becky Lynch, Asuka, Lacey Evans, Alexa Bliss, Shotzi and Raquel Rodriguez. But little did fans know at the time, as Morgan sat on top of the ladder in tears, that the best was yet to come.

Later in the night, Ronda Rousey defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship against her heated rival Natalya. The bout turned into a battle of the submissions, with Rousey almost forcing Natalya to tap out in the Sharpshooter, but in the end it was an Arm Bar that got the job done.

Not that Rousey emerged unscathed, a Sharpshooter had taken a toll on her knee, and as her music rang around the arena, Liv Morgan saw her opportunity.

Morgan sprinted to the ring, roared on by the capacity crowd, but the dream almost turned into a nightmare. Rousey caught the popular star in an Ankle Lock and it appeared that there was no escape. However, this would be Morgan’s night as she reversed the champion into a pin to win her first championship in WWE to a monstrous reaction from the crowd and chants of “You deserve it!”

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio after the show, Dave Meltzer has reported that more big things are coming for Morgan as, at SummerSlam, she is seemingly set to defend her newly won title in a rematch against Rousey.

“Right now the plan is Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam which kind of surprises me in a lot of ways. Especially because they didn’t leave with any heat, Ronda just hugged her, walked out of the ring, and let her have her moment.”

Meltzer went on to question whether this is a feel-good moment for Morgan or if WWE will go all-in on her as a champion before noting that everyone had expected it to be Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair at the Biggest Party of the Summer.

“It’s interesting because everyone figured it was going to be Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam and it’s not.”
