Liv Morgan Says Becky Lynch Told Her “You’re Going To Be Champion”

Becky Lynch holds title aloft

Current SmackDown star Liv Morgan says reigning WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch told her that she’d one day be carrying gold herself in the company.

Becky Lynch made her stunning return to WWE at SummerSlam after taking time away from the company to have her and her husband Seth Rollins’ first child. After last competing at WrestleMania 36, The Man wasted no time on her return as she took Sasha Banks place in the SmackDown Women’s Title match at SummerSlam, facing then-champion Bianca Belair. In just 27 seconds Becky Lynch turned the blue brand and Belair upside down as she defeated The EST of WWE in no time at all.

Lynch will have to face Belair again however as the former champion won a number one contender’s match on SmackDown. Belair was joined in the elimination match by Zelina Vega, Carmella, and Liv Morgan, with Belair last eliminating Morgan for the win.

Speaking on Talking Smack, Liv Morgan told host Kayla Braxton that she’s ready to keep fighting for her first title in WWE and that Becky Lynch herself has every faith that Morgan will achieve that feat:

“Do you want to know a little secret? When Becky left, I gave her a hug goodbye and she whispered in my ear, ‘When I come back, you’re going to be champion.’ I’ve thought about that every single day, and she’s back and I’m not champion. But I am so, so, so looking forward to proving her right, maybe not in her timeline, but I’m going to be champion, and I’d love to take it off Becky Lynch.”

During her time in the company, the last remaining member of The Riott Squad Liv Morgan has never had a televised one-on-one match for any of the NXT, RAW, or SmackDown Women’s Championships. Her last match for gold of any kind in the company came in October 2020 when she and Ruby Riott unsuccessfully challenged Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
