Liv Morgan answers whether she was surprised by the mixed crowd reaction following her controversial win at SummerSlam.
Liv Morgan successfully cashed-in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. A few weeks later, she managed to successfully defend her title against Ronda Rousey, though it wasn’t exactly a clean win.
Fans realized Morgan tapped out before the referee counted the three during a pinf-all on Rousey. This led some fans to turn on the champion, chanting “you tapped out” at her during an interview on SmackDown.
During her appearance on “Gorilla Position,” Morgan discussed whether the mixed crowd reaction following her controversial win at SummerSlam surprised her.
“No, it didn’t surprise me. I kind of weirdly anticipated it. But, in the same time, it kind of made me feel like I had a little bit of an edge because at the end of the day, the referee’s decision is final and I’m still SmackDown Women’s Champion.”
Despite some of the crowd turning on her, Morgan recently defended her title against Shayna Baszler at Clash at the Castle. After a back-and-forth contest, Morgan once again retained the championship.
