Liv Morgan has given her opinion on the first rendition of The Riott Squad and how the trio were pulled apart before any of them were ready.
Making their debut in November 2017, the original Riott Squad (Morgan, Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan) experienced a great friendship but little success on WWE’s main roster.
Though they were a favourite of the paying audience thanks to their unique look and untapped talent, the group were not used to their full potential and the promotion officially split them in the 2019 Superstar Shake-Up.
After that, Liv Morgan disappeared from television for a period before returning in a same sex storyline with Lana, Ruby Riott went down with an injury and Sarah Logan was released from her contract in April, as part of the mass talent exodus. The latter is currently expecting her first child with husband and Viking Raider, Erik.
Now, Liv Morgan has spoke out about her memories of the original group and why she thinks they were broken-up too soon while doing an interview with the Asbury Park Press:
“The first time The Riott Squad was around I feel like we disbanded before we were ready. We were just hitting our stride and then it was taken away. So to have the opportunity again, Ruby and I kind of feel like we have a chance to rewrite history and to create whatever we want.
We can go at it this time around doing everything that we wished we could have the first time. We’re not taking it lightly at all. We know this might be the last time, and so we are completely focused and have our sights set on becoming the next WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and we just know we have to make the most of it.”
Currently, Morgan is enjoying a Riott Squad rebirth with Ruby and this time around they intend to accomplish what they never got the chance to the first time around.
Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott were part of the Women’s Team SmackDown at Survivor Series 2020.
