Liv Morgan made a surprise appearance on the June 23rd episode of SmackDown, reuniting with Raquel Rodriguez.
The former SmackDown Women’s Champion had been out of action since the May 12th episode of the blue brand when she suffered an injury while defending the Women’s Tag Team Titles. As a result, Rodriguez and Morgan were forced to give up their titles, and Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler later won the gold.
On June 23rd, Rousey and Baszler unified the titles with the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles, by defeating champions Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre. After the match, the pair were confronted by Rodriguez who then brought out Morgan. There was a brief staredown before Baszler and Rousey left the ring.
Speaking in a WWE Exclusive after the show, Morgan and Rodriguez set their sights on winning back the titles they never lost.
“Liv Morgan: It feels like I’m home. I don’t know what to say. I worked so hard to come back as soon as I can so that we can back our championships that we never lost. My shoulder’s doing great, by the way.
Raquel Rodriguez: We were really hoping that Isla and Alba would win, but I think it just makes it a little bit more bittersweet that Ronda and Shayna are holding the titles that we never lost.
Morgan then pointed out that it would be remarkable if she and Raquel defeated Rousey and Baszler, as she would become the only person in the world to beat Ronda three times. Rodriguez stated that this milestone would be one for the books.
LM: You know what’s funny about that, though, is that when we beat them and win the titles, I’m gonna be the only person in the world to defeat Ronda Rousey three times.”
Liv Morgan Has History With Ronda Rousey
Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey have a lengthy history going all of the way back to Money In The Bank 2022. At the event, Morgan won the coveted briefcase before cashing in on Rousey, defeating the star the same night.
Morgan got the better of Rousey again at Clash At The Castle before the former UFC star finally got her revenge at Extreme Rules.
