Lita hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Becky Lynch at Elimination Chamber back in February 2022.
However, that is set to change on the upcoming February 27th edition of Monday Night Raw when she teams with Lynch to take on Women’s Tag Team Champions Damage CTRL. The WWE Hall of Famer returned to the red brand on February 6th to help her former rival defeat Bayley in a Steel Cage match. Two weeks later Lita was back again to stand side-by-side with Lynch to lay down a challenge for the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
According to a new report, it appears that Lita and Becky Lynch are set to win that match on Raw before defending the gold at WrestleMania 39. It has previously been noted that Ronda Rousey would be challenging for the Women’s Tag Team titles, so in the eyes of WWE, this makes that match even bigger.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that the switch came as WrestleMania is about “marquee matches.”
“Shayna Baszler & Ronda Rousey will challenge for the women’s tag titles. It was originally against Iyo Sky & Dakota Kai, the champions. But Lita & Becky Lynch face Sky & Kai, and WrestleMania is about marquee matches and Lita & Lynch as a team against Baszler & Rousey is a bigger match.”
Lita And Trish Stratus At WrestleMania 39?
With Lita already back in the fold, at least for the time being, there have also been strong rumours about a WWE return for fellow Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. The star has reportedly been in line to appear on Raw twice in recent weeks before those plans fell through. The second of these occasions was on February 20th when the legend was listed as being involved in the Ding Dong Hello! segment that featured Lynch and Lita.
Despite this, Stratus is reportedly still set to be involved in a program with “high-level stars” in the coming weeks.
