Lita Reveals Why She Had “Instant Respect” From Chyna

Lita Chyna

Lita has opened up about why, exactly, she gained instant respect from the late Chyna.

The recently-returned Hall of Famer faced Chyna in the final WWF encounter for “The Ninth Wonder Of The World”, with the pair contesting a six-and-a-half-minute contest at the 2001 Judgement Day pay-per-view, where Chyna retained the Women’s Championship.

Almost twenty-one years after their first and only clash, Lita has discussed why Chyna showed respect to her instantly, as she discussed on Ring The Belle:

“We had Debra, we had Terri Runnels in the locker room, we had Trish. She had started to train when she got on board, she was hired for being a fitness model. So I think that Chyna, from having gone to Killer Kowalski’s school, and come up through the hard way, basically, I think there was a little bit of an instant respect knowing that I’d come up through the indies.”

Chyna wrestled just three other women in singles action in the WWF, those being Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, and Ivory, who she defeated for the WWF Women’s Championship at the WrestleMania X-Seven pay-per-view in April 2001. Her outing vs. Lita ended up being Chyna’s final match for the company, with her departure being made official in November of that year.

Lita, who returned to the ring as part of the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble match, will challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship on 19 February at the Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia.
