Lita has revealed that she has no plans to remain with WWE following her upcoming appearance at Elimination Chamber.
At the 2022 Royal Rumble, Lita returned to competition for the first time since October 2018. Although she was ultimately unsuccessful in her quest to the women’s Royal Rumble match, her performance drew praise across the board on social media.
Appearing on the following episode of Monday Night Raw, the WWE Hall of Famer crossed paths with Becky Lynch. Lita then challenged the Raw Women’s Champion to a match at Elimination Chamber.
The bout will be the former Women’s Champion’s first proper singles match since her full-time WWE run came to an end in 2006.
Although the star has spoken on WWE television about being more than up for having one more run, speaking in a new interview, she revealed that she has no plans to remain with the company beyond her match in Saudi Arabia.
In conversation with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Lita confirmed that she was only asked to do this match, but admitted that doesn’t mean plans might change.
“Currently, I was just asked to do this match. I know everything can change in WWE at the drop of a hat. There is a lot of opportunity here, and just because there are no current plans doesn’t mean there won’t be. This is also allowing me to focus on the task at hand, which is to put on a killer match and not focus on anything else except Elimination Chamber,”
Before returning to WWE, Lita had been openly critical of the company’s relationship with Saudi Arabia. In particular the fact that women weren’t initially allowed to wrestle on the events hosted in the kingdom. However, she has since explained that conversations with female stars who have appeared in the country have changed her perspective.
