Lita Admits She Was Surprised To Land Match At WrestleMania 39

Becky Lynch Lita Trish Stratus WrestleMania 39

Weeks ahead of WrestleMania 39, Lita made a shock return to WWE and formed a partnership with Becky Lynch.

The two went on to defeat Damage CTRL for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships with the help of an also-returning Trish Stratus. At WrestleMania, Lita teamed with Stratus and Lynch to defeat all three members of Damage CTRL in trios action.

However, the star was the victim of a mystery attack on the April 10th episode of Monday Night Raw, and it was later revealed that none other than Trish Stratus was the assailant. Stratus stepped in to team with Becky Lynch later that night and was pinned by Liv Morgan, making Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez the new tag champs. Stratus then attacked Lynch, and the next week, she explained that she was not a nostalgia act, but instead wants to prove that she’s the greatest of all time.

Speaking with former WWE Superstar Dean Muhtadi (formerly known as Mojo Rawley) for TMZ, Lita opened up about her WrestleMania experience, calling it “surreal” as she didn’t expect to have a match on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

“I had no aspirations, no idea that I would be at WrestleMania 39 so just walking down that stage and everything, it was really surreal and to do (it) with two people that I’m so close to, or were close to (she smiled).”

“Can We Just Have Fun And Take It In?” – Lita

Continuing, the WWE Hall of Famer said that she spoke with her teammates ahead of the bout and made it clear that she wanted to enjoy her WrestleMania moment before getting to the business of defeating Damage CTRL. She admits that Lynch and Stratus seemed to be more business-minded on the night.

“It was really fun and I said to them, I remember saying to them before we went out, ‘Hey, it’s a really long ramp and I know we’re mad at Damage CTRL and we got business to take care of but for the first half, can we just have fun and take it in and then we can get serious?’ And they’re like, ‘Okay.’ I feel like only I did that though. I’m walking down being like, ‘Oh hell yeah! This is rad’ and they’re like, ‘We’re gonna kick your ass.'”

Lita hasn’t been seen on WWE television since being attacked by Stratus, and according to a recent report, the company has no official plans to use her going forward but she may be involved in the ongoing feud between Lynch and Stratus.
