Lio Rush Wins MLW World Middleweight Championship

Lio Rush made a huge debut in Major League Wrestling, ending the historic 424 day reign of Myron Reed to scoop the promotion’s Middleweight Championship at Kings of Colosseum.

Rush, who has recently competed for New Japan, AAA and Game Changer Wrestling, arrived in MLW as part of the company’s post-lockdown return, known as #TheRestart.

He was immediately met by a challenge from Reed, himself determined to take advantage of his new roster mate’s notoriety.

But things did not go to plan for ‘The Young GOAT’ Reed, as he came up on the wrong side of a near 15 minute thriller at the pay per view turned free to air extravaganza.

Following the match, ‘The Man of the Hour’ took to Twitter to add further salt in the wound:

For Reed, the night would go from bad to worse as he and Injustice stablemate Jordan Oliver were attacked backstage by Contra Unit, along with new member, the debuting Shawn Daivari.

Following the title match, it was reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that MLW are considering allowing Rush to defend the belt outside of the promotion, particularly internationally.

Rush is already well known to international audiences following his stint in WWE and recent appearance in New Japan USA and will likely attract more eyeballs to the promotion as its Middleweight Champion.
