Russian-born AEW star ‘Legit’ Leyla Hirsch has commented on the ongoing war being waged in Ukraine and says she stands with the besieged country.
Russia commenced hostilities in Ukraine on February 24th, leading to reports of significant civilian casualties and millions of people being forced to flee the country in pursuit of safety.
Now AEW star Leyla Hirsch has commented on the situation on social media, making clear her support of Ukraine:
“I want to make something very clear. I stand with Ukraine one hundred percent and my heart breaks for its citizens who are suffering at the hands of Vladimir Putin. I was born in Russia. I came to the US at eight years of age and became an American citizen.”
“I cannot change my heritage any more than any other citizen can change theirs. The mere fact that I was born in Russia does not mean that I support this brutal dictator. Everyone who would even suggest such a thing is simply wrong, plain and simple.”
Hirsch competed on The Buy In ahead of Revolution defeating her former friend Kris Statlander. On the following episode of AEW Dynamite ‘Legit’ Leyla lost to Thunder Rosa which means La Mera Mera will get another shot at Dr. Britt Baker DMD and her AEW Women’s World Championship.
