Lewis Capaldi has channeled his inner Booker T to celebrate another UK Number 1 Single.
The Scottish singer-songwriter released his latest hit, ‘Wish You the Best’ on April 14th and by April 22nd it was Number 1 in the UK.
This is the star’s fifth UK Number 1, so as a wrestling fan, there was only one way to celebrate, stripping down to his underwear and doing a Booker T impression complete with replica championship belts!
“Hello everybody, it’s Lewis Capaldi here. Or, the artist formerly known as Lewis Capaldi.
“Now, you can call me Booker T because I am a FIVE-TIME, FIVE-TIME, FIVE-TIME, FIVE-TIME, FIVE-TIME UK Number One-having artist.
“Thank you to all of those who bought the song, streamed the song, ‘Wish You The Best’. To all my enemies, I hope you perish in the flames, motherf**kers.”
Lewis Capaldi “astounded” by fan support
Capaldi also spoke of his shock at reaching the milestone, especially as three of the singles are from an album he hasn’t even released yet.
“Can you dig it suckaaaaaaa??!!!? cannot believe i’m able to say that ‘wish you the best’ is my 5TH UK NUMBER 1 SINGLE!! honestly am so, so happy and continue to be astounded by everyone’s support thank you thank you thank you x”
“also means that it’s the 3rd number 1 song in a row from this new album with ‘forget me’ and ‘pointless’!!! what is actually going on have no words right now!! also it means ‘wish you the best’ is no 1 this week, ‘forget me’ is no 7 and ‘pointless’ is at number 16!!!!! album isn’t even out for another month, absolute madness. thank u all so so much!! In a press release accompanying the release of his latest single, Capaldi explained the meaning of the song.
“Wish You The Best came from the idea of a person you used to be with, telling you all this amazing stuff about their life, without you in it.”
“It’s a song about what we don’t say to those people. I was fascinated by the things left unsaid, whether that be in a relationship or a friendship.”
