Legendary AEW Name Believes The Death Riders Storyline Is “A Good Idea”

One of AEW‘s most respected veterans is a fan of Jon Moxley and his Death Riders.

In the main event of Dynasty on April 6th, Jon Moxley successfully retained his AEW Championship after going head to head with Swerve Strickland, but not without some help from The Young Bucks, who made a surprise return on the night.

Despite All Elite Wrestling touting the story as a success, many fans have been frustrated with Moxley’s reign as champion and the overall story involving The Death Riders. Tony Khan addressed some of this fan backlash in a media scrum after Dynasty went off the air.

One veteran is a fan of Moxley and his crew, however. Speaking on the latest episode of Grilling JR, WWE Hall of Famer and All Elite Wrestling broadcaster Jim Ross praised Moxley, saying:

“It seems like Moxley is the maestro of this orchestra, and if that’s the case, then so be it. It’s going to work out pretty well.”

Continuing, Ross explained that he enjoys the ongoing story with Moxley’s gang running roughshod in All Elite Wrestling, saying:

“The Death Riders is a good gimmick. It’s a good idea. I like the Death Riders scenario. I like it a lot, so we’ll see how it pans out at the end of the day.”

Jim Ross Thought Swerve Strickland Would Triumph At AEW Dynasty

Like many fans, Ross believed Swerve Strickland would recapture the AEW Championship at Dynasty. He continued:

“I just thought that Moxley might lose the title and it didn’t happen. I’m not complaining about that, but it seemed like it was a false narrative [in my mind].”

Ross added that Swerve has been a good champion in the past, saying:

“I thought Swerve would get the title…and he’s been a good champion.”

Elsewhere on the podcast, Jim Ross made a bold prediction for WWE WrestleMania 41.
