WWE Hall of Famer Believes Vince McMahon Is Still Working Behind The Scenes In WWE

Vince McMahon

It’s been almost four months since Vince McMahon announced his retirement from all active duties in WWE. On July 22nd, he tweeted: “At 77, time for me to retire. Thank you, WWE Universe. Then. Now. Forever. Together.

Since then, McMahon has kept himself away from the public eye. There have been no follow-up tweets and no appearances on WWE Television. Many believe that this truly is the end of Vince McMahon in World Wrestling Entertainment, but there are still a few individuals who aren’t so sure about McMahon being completely out of the picture.

Is Vince McMahon Still Working Behind The Scenes?

In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, WWE Hall of Famer Bushwhacker Luke revealed his belief that Vince McMahon has not retired.

“I don’t think it’s hurt them [WWE] very much. The daughter was always there, Hunter was always there. They know Vince inside out. And I still think Vince is sitting behind the scenes. He’s been in the business since the late 70s or 80s, working for his dad and then taking over. I think, how could he let it go after being there for 43 years? It’s in is blood. He’ll still be there somewhere.”

Bushwhacker Luke isn’t the first wrestler to publicly question McMahon’s retirement. Speaking as a guest on Rene Dupree’s Cafe De Rene podcast, eleven-time World Champion Kurt Angle gave a very similar opinion.

“I personally don’t think he has fully retired. You know Vince, he’s gonna be behind the scenes. Vince is not letting go of that company, he will not let it go until his hands are dead cold and they pry it out of his cold dead hands. He’s not letting go of that company until he dies, and that’s just it.”

If it is revealed that Vince McMahon is secretly pulling the strings behind the scenes, it would be seen as very controversial. McMahon was the subject of an internal investigation based on an alleged affair he had with a WWE employee. Claims of McMahon’s involvement in WWE post-July 22nd have been disputed, but it doesn’t seem like everybody in wrestling is convinced.
