Legal Claims Against Vince McMahon Dismissed

Legal Claims Against Vince McMahon Dismissed

Former WWE writer Britney Abrahams has voluntarily dropped her racial discrimination lawsuit against Vince McMahon and the company.

According to court documents from the United States District Court of the Eastern District of New York, Abrahams requested the dismissal of “all claims and causes of action against defendants” without prejudice, allowing her and her attorneys, The Cochran Group, to potentially refile the case in the future.

The named defendants in the lawsuit, including Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, and various WWE writers, were the only claims dismissed by the motion. This means that Abrahams and her legal team may still be pursuing action against WWE itself.

Britney Abrahams initially filed the lawsuit against Vince McMahon and others earlier this year, alleging that she faced discriminatory treatment and retaliation for raising concerns about offensive and racially insensitive storyline ideas during her time as a writer for WWE. Some of these ideas included Apollo Crews adopting an exaggerated Nigerian accent and linking Mansoor to the September 11 attacks.

While it remains unclear why Abrahams decided to drop the lawsuit against the named defendants, it is speculated that she and her attorneys may be pursuing a potential settlement with WWE. When asked for comment, Abrahams’ legal team declined to provide further details.

What Legal Issues Has Vince McMahon Faced Before?

Vince McMahon is no stranger to legal troubles, most famously he faced an indictment in federal court over the 1993 steroid controversy, where McMahon was accused of distributing steroids to his performers. The case went to trial in 1994 and McMahon was acquitted of the charges.

McMahon has also had a number of sexual misconduct allegations brought against him, including a private investigation the WWE board made over a $3 million hush-money settlement McMahon paid over an alleged affair with a former employee.
