Moriarty is no stranger to AEW having appeared for the promotion previously against Joey Janela, Dante Martin and Daniel Garcia. After his match with Garcia on AEW Dark: Elevation, AEW President Tony Khan came out and offered him a contract.
However, it wasn’t made official until after his recent match with Bobby Fish on the Rampage Buy-In.
The new signing has five years of wrestling experience and has appeared for the likes of IMPACT Wrestling, Ring of Honor and Major League Wrestling. Moriarty is a well-respected wrestler that piqued the interest of WWE.
Moriarty was so esteemed he was likened to another recent AEW signing, the American Dragon Bryan Danielson.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Moriarty shared his opinion on being compared to legendary Bryan Danielson:
“Over the past year, I’ve been compared to Bryan Danielson a lot. It’s such a humbling comparison, and not one that I would expect. While he was on the independents, that was his focus – becoming the best. He wasn’t racing to sign a contract. If a contract comes my way, that’s one thing, but my focus is on what happens in the ring,”
