During the April 19th edition of Monday Night RAW it appeared as though Randy Orton suffered a shoulder injury during his match with Riddle.
During the bout Randy Orton was seen favouring his arm and shoulder, leading to speculation over the Viper’s condition. Orton had a history of shoulder injuries earlier in his career, which may have added to the speculation.
However, as reported by Fightful Select, the injury isn’t said to have caused any “major damage”
The report notes that Orton sustained a “deep bruise in the area” and there was nothing that would keep him out for an extended period. However, the report closes by cautioning that “We’re not sure if that has changed over the last several days.”
While Orton was beaten by Riddle on RAW, he had initially been advertised to take on Braun Strowman. The match was hyped as the first one-on-one meeting between the pair, but by the time that the show started, plans had changed.
It was noted that the change was made before the pre-show production meeting, although no reason was given for the alteration. It is also unclear whether the switch will alter any long term booking plans for either man.
The report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, also suggested that due to the timing of the change, it was likely a decision made by Vince McMahon.
In regard to Orton’s injury, there is no news on whether it will keep him off WWE television.
At time of writing, Orton hasn’t been announced for the upcoming episode of RAW.
