Becky Lynch last competed inside a WWE ring at SummerSlam, where she was unsuccessful in her attempt to regain the Raw Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair. After the match, Belair was confronted by Bayley, who returned from injury after more than a year off WWE television. Bayley wasn’t alone, and had Dakota Kai and IYO SKY (formerly known as Io Shirai) in tow, forming the group that would go on to be known as Damage CTRL.
Though Bayley’s return was a boon to the WWE Raw women’s division, the SummerSlam match had disastrous consequences for Becky Lynch, who suffered a shoulder injury during the bout. Amidst reports that she may require surgery, Becky Lynch confirmed her injury status the next night on Raw, saying that her shoulder was indeed separated. Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair appeared in a show of respect for Lynch, who told her to hold down the fort during her absence.
Following Becky Lynch’s promo, she suffered a brutal attack at the hands of Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, and Bayley. The trio targeted her arm, writing her off television for the foreseeable future.
A New Report Says Becky Lynch Could Be Returning To WWE Soon
Becky Lynch has remained positive in spite of her injury, though she did admit in a recent interview that it was difficult to miss WWE Clash at the Castle as it was the company’s first stadium show held in the UK in decades. Had she been able to compete at the show, she no doubt would have received a tremendous ovation from the Irish fans who’d made the trip to Cardiff, Wales to see the historic event.
According to a new report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a return for Big Time Becks could be on the horizon. The report notes that Lynch was backstage at WWE Raw on October 3rd in Saint Paul, MN and there was talk that she could be returning to the company “soon.” She is said to be healing well following the shoulder injury she suffered at SummerSlam.
