All Elite Wrestling’s roster of wrestlers and non-active personnel continues to grow with each passing week. As of this writing, there are well over 100 male and over 30 female wrestlers signed to the company. And now the company has added yet another person to this ever-growing roster.
Kevin Matthews, who wrestles under his initials ‘KM’, has been wrestling on the American independent scene for over twenty years. During that period he has wrestled many different people including Kenny Omega, Wheeler Yuta, Moose, Brian Cage, and many others.
But don’t expect him to be wrestling in an AEW ring because that’s not what he was hired to do.
AEW signs indy wrestling veteran to work backstage
According to a report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, KM has been signed by AEW for some backstage role, but the report does not state exactly what he will be doing.
KM has appeared for AEW five times between September 2021 and November 2022. All of his appearances were either for Dark or Dark: Elevation and all of them were losses. He served as enhancement talent to wrestlers like Yuta, John Silver, and Dante Martin and all five of his AEW matches were under four minutes long.
All Elite Wrestling has several semi-active and retired wrestlers working backstage as coaches, which is their version of producers in WWE.
Some of the other wrestlers involved in AEW’s backstage environment include Jerry Lynn, Sarah Stock, Jimmy Jacobs, and former WWE staff Tony Chimel and Dean Malenko. Additionally, KM is also believed to be working alongside Ace Steel, who was brought back recently ahead of CM Punk’s return on tonight’s episode of Collision.
