‘The Ravishing Russian’ Lana has admitted that she prays before stepping into the ring with current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Nia Jax.
The rivalry between Jax and Lana began prior to the 2020 Survivor Series when the former valet qualified for the Raw Women’s Survivor Series squad which also consisted of the powerhouse.
In the weeks that followed, Lana would be put through a table by the colossus on a regular basis before she became the sole survivor in the bout to Nia’s chagrin when the larger of the teammates was counted out alongside Bianca Belair who was vying for the pride of Team SmackDown.
Following the elimination spectacular, Lana found a friend in WWE Raw Women’s Champion Asuka with the pair becoming number one contenders to the champions at WWE TLC. However, Jax and Shayna Baszler injured the star prior to the event forcing her out of active competition until January 2021.
Upon her return at the Royal Rumble, Lan looked meaner and more determined for payback and got what she was looking for when she did the impossible and eliminated her attacker from the bout before defeating her in a Tables Match the following week on Monday Night Raw.
Now, Lana has sat down with talkSPORT to discuss her rivalry with Nia Jax and how she prays before the pair step into the ring together:
“I think that Nia is very, very strong… And Nia is a beautiful Samoan with lots of strength and lots of size on her, so yeah I have to spend a lot of time mentally preparing myself because I know when I go out there, legit anything could happen [with Nia]. I know I’m going to feel it the next day. I felt those nine tables, I feel those powerbombs, I really do! But I think that’s what I signed up for. I’m not going to walk away from it. I’ll be remembered as the girl who could take an ass-whooping and keep going.
We remember what happened with Kairi [Sane], Becky [Lynch] and a lot of other people. So let’s not forget that she took me out of the Rumble two years ago. Let’s not forget she took me out of TLC. I know that everyone wants to be laughing about certain things and making jokes, but I remember that. I say a lot of prayers that I’ll come out in one piece! But I don’t know, maybe I like the adrenaline rush. Maybe there’s something wrong with me. I’m like what am I doing! I’m running towards this powerhouse not running away from it laughs]. But I won’t let fears dictate my life.”
Following her victory over Nia Jax on February 8, Lana unfortunately fell to Shayna Baszler in singles competition on February 15.
