Before the announcement of Lacey Evans’ real-life pregnancy, WWE reportedly had big plans for the ‘Southern Belle’ to defeat Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship.
According to Fightful Select, Evans was due to end Asuka’s reign, which began at SummerSlam in August 2020, at Elimination Chamber. Following the win, she would have continued her rivalry with Charlotte Flair, which was intended to last at least until WrestleMania.
“There were big plans for Lacey Evans before her pregnancy. WWE sources indicated to Fightful that the plan was for her to defeat Asuka at WWE Elimination Chamber for the WWE Raw Women’s Title. Evans would have then continued her feud with Charlotte Flair, that was planned to continue through at least WrestleMania.”
However, with the change in Evans’ circumstances, the storyline which saw her begin a romantic relationship with Ric Flair, much to the chagrin of his daughter, abruptly ended with Charlotte telling her father to go home. Since then, Evans has been absent from WWE television and will likely not be seen again until next year.
Recently, Ric Flair revealed that he had intended to get physical during the storyline but was unable to get cleared by WWE due to his health issues. One of his ideas had been to train Evans to emulate his style on-screen, believing that her becoming more ‘Flair’ would be good for the storyline.
