LA Knight Seeking Major WWE Validation In 2024: “It Seems Past Due”

LA Knight Seeking Major WWE Validation In 2024:

LA Knight does not feel that his time on the main roster has been justified until he is made a champion.

Despite being a part of the main roster for over a year and having a remarkable 2023, Knight always seemed close to a title run but never had that crowning moment. The Megastar entered the Money in the Bank match and did not win despite being the clear fan favourite in London. Additionally, Knight would come up short in his match against Undisputed Champion Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia later that year.

Although some feel that top stars don’t necessarily need titles to prove their worth, Knight disagrees. Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Knight admitted that he needs that crowning moment to vindicate the feeling that the company is behind him:

“It seems past due in some regards. Some others would say, ‘he doesn’t need it.’ For me, I think I do need it. I think the reason I need it is because it’s the recognition that the company is saying, not even the company is saying, it’s that I have gotten to a level where I have proven that I am beyond worthy. I have proven that I deserve it, and I’ve proven that I’m ready,” he said.

In regards to which title Knight is hoping to win, The Megastar did not have a preference:

“Any of them, in all honesty, but I’m looking at the top spot. Anybody would love to be a Tag Team Champion, US Champion, Intercontinental Champion, World Champion. I want to be The Guy. Whether that means I need to win an Intercontinental Championship or US Championship on the way, I’m about that.

I look at the guys who have come before me and they’ve used the Intercontinental Championship or US Title as their way to the top. I’ve been able to springboard straight to the top, fallen just barely short. When it comes down to it, let me use that leverage of an Intercontinental or US Title.”

Although LA Knight is a former Million Dollar Champion in NXT, the title has been retired once again and was never a sanctioned championship.

LA Knight Looks Back On Sacrifices

Making a name for himself in Impact and NWA before eventually returning to WWE, Knight was already an established star before joining the NXT roster. However, in order to join the largest promotion in the world, LA Knight was aware that he had to make a big sacrifice.

H/t to Fightful.
