After weeks of teases it was recently announced that LA Knight and Bray Wyatt will be squaring off at the Royal Rumble in a Pitch Black Match.
The only problem being, no one seems to know what a Pitch Black Match is, even those wrestling in it.
“It’s Going To Be A Fight At The Royal Rumble” – LA Knight
Speaking during an appearance on WWE After The Bell, LA Knight discussed what he’s been told, or seemingly not told, about the contest. Knight told fans to expect a Street Fight in the dark, kind of.
“Pitch Black Match, it’s something new in the making. There was something to the point of, ‘I don’t know what the hell this is, what the hell this is going to be.’ Every indication I’ve been given is that this is going to be a kick ass street fight and be kind of in the dark. I don’t know what the lighting is going to be, how it’s going to work, what other kind of factors or elements are going to come into play. All I know is it’s going to be a fight at the Royal Rumble,”
The match at the Royal Rumble will be Bray Wyatt’s first televised bout since returning to WWE at Extreme Rules in October 2022. In fact it will be his first match on television or at a Premium Live Event since WrestleMania 37 in April 2021.
Since returning to WWE, Bray Wyatt has been plagued by a mysterious character named Uncle Howdy. As Wyatt attempts to move away from his dark past, Howdy tries even harder to pull him back.
The character even made an appearance on Monday Night Raw, seemingly in a bid to try and recruit Alexa Bliss. The former Raw Women’s Champion has an extensive history with Bray Wyatt going back to when he was The Fiend.
