The ever-elusive ‘LA Knight push’ is still seemingly on hold.
On the road to WrestleMania fans began to get behind LA Knight and on the eve of the spectacular in Los Angeles, his popularity exploded. Despite still theoretically being a heel, Knight’s regularly cheered to the rafters and has become one of the most beloved stars on the entire roster.
Despite this, he’s still searching for his big break. The former NXT star didn’t appear at WrestleMania, he failed to win Money In The Bank, and now he lost out in an effort to earn a shot at the United States Title. This has led many fans to wonder what the star has to do to move up the card.
On the July 21st episode of SmackDown, Knight took part in the United States Invitational, wrestling against Rey Mysterio, Cameron Grimes, and Sheamus. The winner of the match would go on to face Santos Escobar who won his own Fatal-Four-Way the previous week. The winner of that match would then face Austin Theory for the gold.
Surprisingly, it was Rey Mysterio who nicked the win, leaving Knight empty-handed, and fans online frustrated once more.
Kevin Nash Walks Back Criticism Of LA Knight
While LA Knight’s popularity was winning over fans left and right, Kevin Nash was much less convinced. On his podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer slammed Knight as a rip-off of The Rock, although after significant criticism he later backtracked slightly, admitting he didn’t know all that much about Knight in the first place.
