LA Knight Expresses Frustrations With WWE Booking

LA Knight On WWE SmackDown

LA Knight opened up about having yet to win a championship in WWE.

Few WWE Superstars have seen as quick a rise to popularity as LA Knight. The former Eli Drake has found favor with fans across the world, and speaking in a new interview with Gorilla Position, he opened up about his meteoric rise in 2023, revealing that there were no creative plans for him following his Mountain Dew Pitch Black match with Bray Wyatt at the 2023 Royal Rumble.

“Yes, yeah. In a certain way. So I look at my career in a sense of, 2023, in all reality, should never have happened the way it happened. That was insanity, that was crazy how I mean literally, legitimately, there were no plans for me until the Royal Rumble. There was nothing.

“I was there because I was trusted to be good enough to hang with Bray and make him look good. I think I did that. But in the process, my god, did a light shine. But for whatever reason, there were plans for me after that. For things to go the way that they did in the last year is amazing. But I get all these congratulations and everybody’s like, ‘You’ve done so much.’”

While LA Knight has worked with top names, earned love from WWE fans, and went on to win the Slim Jim Battle Royal at SummerSlam 2023, he has yet to capture championship gold in the company. Continuing, he pointed to this fact, noting that he doesn’t have much on his resume to point to.

“I’m like, I have, but everything that I’ve done, from a career standpoint, pretty good. But from a merit standpoint, from a standpoint of adding to the resume, saying, ‘Hey, this guy’s been an Intercontinental Champion, this guy’s been a United States Champion, this guy’s been a United States Champion, this guy’s been a WWE Champion, World Heavyweight Champion, Money in the Bank, Royal Rumble winner”, any of that stuff, I really don’t have anything to hang my hat on in that regard.”

Recently LA Knight expressed his frustrations over a lack of a push in WWE.

“It’s Time To Go And Start Creating A Legacy” – LA Knight

LA Knight made it clear that he wants to create a legacy in WWE, and that he plans to use 2024 to build on the foundation he built in 2023.

“So for that, yeah, I’m kind of like, okay, there’s gotta be a time now where I start…I created one hell of a foundation in 2023. Now it’s time to go and start creating a legacy and making those things to hang my hat on, start building the resume to where people can say, alright, this guy legitimately can make a claim to being one of the best of this era, if not one of the best in the whole thing.”

While LA Knight admits he’s been frustrated in the past, he plans to make the most of WrestleMania 40. LA Knight is not currently scheduled for a match on the Grandest Stage of Them All, but all signs point to an upcoming bout with AJ Styles.

“For me, you look at what happened over the last year, and honestly I can say, agree with it or disagree with it, that has never happened ever in the history of the business. There have been guys who have gotten crazy, crazy over in a short amount of time. It’s because they had rocket pushes. I had none until finally their hand was forced.

“So in that regard, this has never, ever happened to where there were no expectations put on someone, and all of a sudden, they lit the damn world on fire. That’s cool, but to me, it’s like, alright, cool. I’ve proven the worth. Now, let’s build the empire. So yeah, is there a little frustration in regard? I suppose. But at the same time, you don’t think I’m gonna walk into WrestleMania and make this a big one, boy oh boy. We’re gonna have a good time.”

LA Knight has expressed similar frustrations before, talking about wanting to win a title in a January interview.
