LA Knight Explains Why He Faced Logan Paul At WWE SummerSlam And Not Before

LA Knight To Confront WWE United States Champion Logan Paul On SmackDown

LA Knight reflects on his US Championship feud against Logan Paul.

At SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland, LA Knight defeated Logan Paul to win his first United States Champion. Defending the title for the next few months, Knight eventually lost to Shinsuke Nakamura at Survivor Series 2024.

While LA Knight is next scheduled to face Nakamura on the 28th February episode of SmackDown for the US title, he recently opened up on his feud against Logan Paul. Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, the Megastar explained how working around Paul’s ‘limited schedule’ led him to try different things and eventually push their feud until SummerSlam.

“WWE, anyway, was at least smart enough to be like, ‘“’Alright, we’re gonna hold on to that for a little bit, and do some distraction stuff,’” Knight said. “[Logan will] do some other stuff. I’ll do some other stuff, and then eventually bring it back, because as far back as even [WrestleMania 40], I’d done some meet and greet and I went out in the audience and just took the microphone out there and started talking to people.

Every single person was like, “You gotta fight Logan Paul. You gotta take the US Championship”. And I’m like, “Okay, there’s something here. A lot of people want to see this.”

While Knight won a title in 2024, he was red hot amongst the fans in 2023. Following his loss to Roman Reigns, the former champion was concerned about the direction of his career after the returns of CM Punk and Randy Orton at Survivor Series 2023.

LA Knight Was Concerned Upon Randy Orton And CM Punk’s Return

At Survivor Series 2023 in Chicago, both Randy Orton and CM Punk made their jaw-dropping return. While the fans were left excited, the returns became a concern for LA Knight. In the same interview with Metro, he reflected on his thoughts.

“Randy comes back, CM Punk comes back. And I’m like, “Alright, well, now the perception is going to be, “I got defeated, now these guys are here, so now I fade”. And I think a lot of people [had] kind of taken that stance for a moment.’”
