LA Knight Details Meeting With Kevin Nash At WWE SummerSlam Following Previous Insults Thrown Both Ways

Kevin Nash and LA Knight

LA Knight has spoken about his brief interaction with Kevin Nash at WWE SummerSlam – and apparently, Nash was “a sweetheart”.

Friction between LA Knight and Kevin Nash started all the way back in July 2023, when on an episode of his Kliq This podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer described Knight as “a rip off of The Rock”. In September, LA Knight responded on an episode of SmackDown by mocking Nash’s blunder during a promo on an episode of WCW Nitro. The conflict didn’t end there, with Nash continuing to air his grievances towards Knight, even at one point claiming there was “nothing original” about Knight’s wrestling persona.

It therefore comes as a bit of a surprise to learn that their recent interaction at WWE SummerSlam appeared to be a pleasant one. Speaking with Mail Online, Knight details how the pair ended up speaking backstage:

It’s funny because he came up while I was sitting in catering, talking to a couple of guys, and he came up, and I felt this hand on my back, and he said hello and we talked for a minute.

Instead of continuing their previous hostility, Nash and Knight’s discussion ended amicably:

He was asking about the match, and everything was cool and hunky dory. I am a mirror in a lot of ways – I give back whatever I receive. We could talk trash, and whatever he says on the podcast or what I say here and there, it could go either way. If he had come in talking, you know, craziness or whatever, I’d have probably responded in that regard. But he was a sweetheart, and I was a sweetheart right back.

LA Knight’s victory over Logan Paul at SummerSlam crowned him the new WWE US Champion, finally giving Knight his first title reign since his arrival on the main roster around two and a half years ago. Knight explained how SummerSlam ended up being the perfect stage and timing for this win to take place, despite doubts over whether he could “stay afloat and remain as popular“.

LA Knight Reflects On Mixed Emotions Ahead Of WWE Main Event Match Against Roman Reigns

Also in his conversation with Mail Online, LA Knight discussed his bout at last year’s Crown Jewel for Roman Reigns’ Undisputed Championship. Throughout 2023, The Megastar quickly developed into one of the most popular faces in the main event scene on SmackDown, with fans keen to see him get a title opportunity. However, Knight explains how it was hard to adjust to this momentum shift, and how he at times had “battling thoughts inside [his] head”.
