LA Knight And WWE “Far Apart” As Contract Talks Begin

LA Knight On SmackDown

LA Knight and WWE aren’t close to agreeing terms on a new contract.

The former IMPACT Wrestling star has been one of the real success stories of 2023, so it’s no surprise that WWE is looking at extending his time with the company. This led to reports that the two sides were close to locking in a new five-year contract, however, it seems that things aren’t quite that straightforward.

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Knight and WWE are in talks over a contract extension and it is for five years, but it’s far from a done deal. The report notes that WWE and Knight are “far apart” when it comes to money, and no deal has been agreed. Furthermore, a deal isn’t believed to be imminent.

One WWE higher-up dismissed the idea that Knight’s recent push was tied to the offer of a new contract. This person cited a number of WWE stars who have contracts coming up but are still being featured prominently.

Knight’s current contract runs well into 2025, so there’s no danger he’ll be heading elsewhere anywhere soon.

LA Knight Hits Back At Kevin Nash

While LA Knight has been hugely popular with fans, not everyone has been convinced by his rise. In recent months, Kevin Nash claimed on his podcast there was nothing original about the star and he was just a rip-off of The Rock. Although it should be noted, he later explained he made these comments while not knowing much about Knight.

On the September 8th episode of SmackDown, LA Knight took a jab at Nash during a promo aimed at The Miz.

“If I was a complete moron, I’d say ‘look at the adjective – play’ but I’m not so I’ll say look at the verb!”

The line was a jab at a comment from Nash back in the 1990s, where he was trying to make a joke about the famous WCW tagline “Where the big boys play.”
