Former three-time NXT Tag Team Champion Kyle O’Reilly has named his pick for the hotly debated subject of the best wrestler in the world right now.
O’Reilly picked a man he is very familiar with having gone one on one with him for the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil, Finn Balor.
Balor is a two-time NXT Champion, winning the title for the second time after he returned to the black and gold brand in late 2019. His second title run began in September 2020 when he won the vacant championship in a match with O’Reilly’s former Undisputed Era partner, Adam Cole.
Speaking in an interview with DAZN, Kyle O’Reilly had words of praise for the first-ever WWE Universal Champion:
“I think Finn Balor is. He’s a guy who’s done everything. (He’s) a former Universal champion. For whatever reason, he came back to NXT and has just helped elevate every single guy that he’s wrestled in NXT. He’s helped elevate the brand of NXT just by him being here and by him putting everything into his work, delivering, and busting his ass when he certainly didn’t have to. I think his work definitely speaks for itself because everything he’s done has just been top-notch. I know myself, I’ve learned a lot getting to wrestle Finn. For my money, I’d say Finn Balor is at the top of that list right now.”
O’Reilly is set to be part of the main event at NXT TakeOver: In Your House for the NXT Championship. Current champion Karrion Kross will defend the title against O’Reilly, Cole, Johnny Gargano, and Pete Dunne in a Fatal Five-Way match.
Currently, Finn Balor is not advertised for the TakeOver event in which a brand new Million Dollar Champion will be crowned. Reports have surfaced recently that Raw has been pitching for a while to bring the Irish superstar back to WWE’s red brand.
