KUSHIDA Returns To New Japan Pro-Wrestling

Former NXT star KUSHIDA has made his highly anticipated return to New Japan Pro Wrestling with his sights set squarely on gold.

At the New Japan Road event on June 21st, Bullet Club’s Taiji Ishimori put his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship on the line in the main event against LIJ’s Hiromu Takahashi.

Ishimori was able to retain his title, putting away Takahashi but a surprise was yet to come for the champion. KUSHIDA appeared, marking his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling after spending three years as part of WWE on the NXT brand.

NJPW Global translated KUSHIDA’s words to Ishimori on social media, as the returning Time Splitter let the fans know he intends to see out his wrestling days in New Japan Pro Wrestling:

“I will spend the rest of my pro- wrestling life in an NJPW ring. And Ishimori, congratulations. That match was amazing, and you sold this place out.”

KUSHIDA then challenged Ishimori for his title but Bullet Club’s Bone Soldier responded by telling KUSHIDA to prove he’s worthy and then after the G1 tournament they could well be destined to meet.

The former NXT star last competed in an NJPW ring back in January 2019 when he lost to Hiroshi Tanahashi and bid an emotional farewell to the company.
